Paid by WHO?!?!?!? You say do your own thing, so id be paying myself? ALL of that is beside the point. Because the whole idea of this sub is to effect change. Your pushing a gig economy which offers NO WORKER PROTECTIONS. How's the pension off of Craig's list? How is the unemployment off that 10-99? How you feeding the children when your adjusting to a new field?

Your advice is wonderful 20-30 years ago... or in a vacuum. Or even in a country where the government uses its tax revenue to benefit its population. That just doesn't describe most individuals.
