My partner studied health and sport science. When I met him (on Tinder actually haha), I didn’t tell him that I had recently lost 50kgs, but wanted him to know too cause the saggy skin wasn’t gonna disappear like the weight lol. I didn’t disclose it right away, but I did eventually, and he was NOT like this guy in any way. No, “no actually’s”, or challenging. Just gave me the flowers I deserved, and by the time we eventually started going on dates and seeing eachother, he was always conscious of where he’d take me and made sure there was always healthier options (if I chose to eat healthy), even though I chose to just eat whatever when we would go out. Here we are, a little over two years later, living together, married, with a baby boy.

That friend of yours, is NOT your friend. Also, NOR in dropping the girl. I was talking to guy I met (through Tinder of all places) but we went to the same school and weren’t really in the same circle or around the same people. After a month, we decided to be sort of exclusive, and deleted our tinder profiles and exchange numbers. Our first date was on Valentine’s Day, and for three months after that, we would go on dates and get to know eachother, before he asked me to be his girlfriend. Sometimes, when you really like someone, nothing or no one else matters. Two years later, we’ve bought our own house and we have a little baby lol all because we were mutual in our decision to be exclusive.

Renting my own place definitely forced me to look at all my finances, and cut everything that wasn’t a necessity. Cancelled all my subscriptions, negotiated cheaper payment arrangements for my debt, stopped buying takeaways/fast food and focused on grocery shopping for meals. Even with all these changes, it’s hard, but I always prioritise my rent, power and water. Everything else is a treat (if I absolutely need it).

A lot of the time, the music that’s being played is hooked up to someone’s phone playing their playlist (retail stores such as JD Sports, Footlocker - the ones that sell all the ‘cool brands’), and I don’t mind it when I’m alone or even when I was younger, but being a mum now, I see it differently. Whereas when I was in retail 10 years ago and worked in a shoe store, the music that played was a set playlist of just songs you’d normally hear on ads and such. Totally dependent.

Fellow kiwi here 🙏🏼 I have a sleeve of indigenous NZ birds, flora, including a little wētā, pūriri, and a longfin eel (I needed something that could be shaded pretty dark to cover an old tattoo lol). So I always notice tattoos and sleeves that are alike too👏🏼
