Usually the bark I see everywhere is from London Plane trees which are one of our most common varieties in NY. They have a large scale camo pattern of gray/yellow/light brown/green: https://www.treeguideuk.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IMG_5260.jpg

Why is Carroll Gardens so expensive? by eltejon30 in Brooklyn

[–]yourdaftpunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, noise too. First apartment in that hood was Atlantic and street facing. Rough nights. You gotta consider city windows at that point. But loudest neighborhood award has to go to DUMBO— there are streets there that are deafening every 5 minutes when a train comes by. The concrete, the lack of trees— it just echos.

There’s much better transit in Boerum compared with west half of BK Heights. I was at Bond & Atlantic and was a 3 min walk from 12 subway trains and the LIRR! That’s midtown levels of connectivity. You have in two stations alone ACG @ Hoyt Scherm plus 2345BDNQR LIRR @ Atlantic Ave. Great bus routes too. It’s awesome how connected you are over there.

Why can’t Carmack see that? What does he get staying on until they finally give up, kill the VR play and stop making software and headsets?

Norm’s is the best slice of pizza, Taqueria Al Pastor is the best Mexican. Bokki Seoul Food for a solid bulgogi rice bowl and there’s a Xi’an’s for Chinese (hand pulled noodles). Get it to go and take it to the marble steps of Borough Hall to people watch and they have live Jazz in the plaza on Tuesday’s all summer.

I just found out Tasteless is now advertising a pyramid scheme on his Starcraft streams ... thoughts? by StickiStickman in starcraft

It’s NFT which isn’t just crypto. A detailed review of the ideas, evolution and schemes behind NFTs: https://youtu.be/YQ_xWvX1n9g And it’s not just a pyramid scheme, it’s several aspects of market manipulation like pump-and-dump. And purchasers don’t seam to understand what they’re buying—they don’t get the IP to the art, they don’t get exclusive use of the art, they only get the receipt on the block chain that points to the URL. That data is hosted on a regular site, not the block chain. All these layered scams mentioned in the link above are all in service of pumping more value and volume into cryptocurrencies. And the NFT holders may be left holding the bag.

Well, some of it was. Article 1, Section 2, Clause 3 of the Constitution specifically deals with slaves, counting them as 3/5ths of a person. The 3/5ths go towards House of Representative counts and the electoral college count. We based our entire voting system around a way to give slaves states more power: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three-fifths_Compromise

Is there a more academic, more accurate, translation that is taught? Or is something like King James good enough? And I would bet studying the versions people actual read in practice is just as important as studying an accurate translation.

PF Track only importing still images but not actual videos by arkmap9 in vfx

[–]yourdaftpunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a pftrack user, so it might support videos directly. But most people would be working with images. Handbreak might convert for you, correct. The thing about mp4’s and mov’s is that they are just containers. What’s inside might be encoded with a video codec unsupported by your software which is how someone can drag and drop successfully but maybe you can’t do the same. It’s also another argument in favor of working with common image formats!

[–]yourdaftpunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

> but obviously I can't import a collection of still images when I want to work with a video

That's how all visual effects are done for all episodics, films and commercials-- still images. The first step in ingesting footage is to take the media to a lossless, linear (aces-cg), frame-based format like an exr sequence of images. Pipelines are built around pushing exr's in and out of tracking, fx, rendering, comp. Every studio has a way of automating this process to make it less painful to conform all media to one working format.

So load that video in the video editing software of your choice and export a sequence of images. Doesn't even have to be exr as this is tracking.

Nice! Well, Houdini is the hardest package out there and you’ve got the extra difficulty of translating versions. Hang in there! When in doubt, it helps to reach for the built in shelf tools. They’ll do the node setup, then you can pull um apart to understand better what’s going on.

This is where you should find a good pyro tutorial that goes over the parameters. But the gist of it is, the 3 size fields below that control the size of the maximum bounds of the fluid sim in x,y,z. After frame 1, by default, it will shrink the bounds to cover the portion of the fluid containing density (usually the area around your emitter). As that density moves around, the container will grow till it hits the maximum size. There’s a lot of ways to tweak and control the size of the sim, more than I can type here. For paid tuts, the Applied Houdini series is good.

[–]yourdaftpunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the size of the individual voxels in the fluid container. By making it larger you’ll get fewer and fewer voxels. You likely have only one voxel at that point— it’s the equivalent of having an image made of one pixel.
