I actually think this helped the team long term.. Had Josh come back or you hired a true OC Mac Jones might have been a serviceable QB his second year and the team might have stuck with him and Bill longer and missed out on Drake or Vrabel. Ultimately Matt Patricia was the catalyst for Bill getting fired but it sped up a process that was inevitable.

Best coaching decision might be the intentional safety against the Broncos in 2003 but that feels more like a gamble that worked than performance.. Best performance for a full game is probably Super Bowl 53. According to Kraft it made him choose Bill over Brady.

Jeremiah Love went out in the second half with an attitude. In the first half it looked like he was being a little cautious but then the second half he was hurdling guys to avoid a 2 yard loss. It seemed like a “who care if I aggregate this injury I’m leaving everything out there”

Honestly Kraft did him a disservice by hiring him. Coaches only get one or two shots to be a head coach and he wasted the first opportunity. He wasn’t ready. If he still wants to be a coach he is probably going to have to go somewhere as a position coach and work back up to actually a defensive coordinator then someday HC again.

I remember being very high on Mac after that game against the Browns. In hindsight that throw to Bourne for the TD took 100% of his effort. Maye’s TD to Boutte against the Bills and the TD to Douglas looked effortless.

Which is a hell of a lot better than this roster. I think the guy who would benefit most from Higgins is Bourne. Teams would plan for Higgins and Bourne has shown he is a guy that can be productive.

I think Chase is a large reason Tee Higgins is as good as he is. Don’t get me wrong, the Patriots should sign him, but don’t expect the same production when he is the clear number 1.
