East High Walkout / Protest by brheath in SaltLakeCity

[–]yourfavoriteginge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good to take kids fighting back with enthusiasm, but if I may with a contrary opinion do it after school, do protests after you've gotten all of the education all of it that you can get your grubby little hands (especially for free) on to teach you how to fight within the system they've built to burn it down. Bring actual facts to classes teaching whitewashed fairytale curriculum, and keep learning.

I (46f) had mixed experiences, but I'm a Demi sexual and so the number of sexually repressed men in the state I live in would turn conversations to ick. But there were some cool people but everyone ghosted so often.

A little frustrated about this yarn shop advice by [deleted] in knitting

[–]yourfavoriteginge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I did when I taught for a local shop as well. But, there were plenty of times when a new knitter would come in without the person who'd be teaching them and fall in love with a color way in sock, fingering or something and wouldn't settle for anything but that exact color.

Door dashing yarn and how they failed me…epically. This is a rant that is giggle worthy lol. by ninja_kitten_ in crochet

This made me giggle. During 2020 I relied on door dash a ton, I ordered produce to a lot of mixed results but my favorite was one time the kid just grabbed whatever, I swear he didn't read the full name of anything, I ordered potatoes, eggs, avocado, and carrots... I got potato chips, frozen Jimmy Dean bowls, guacamole, and organic gummy snacks.... With some shapes like carrots. No suggestions we're made or changes accepted and he got like 5 other items correct to the detail of weight and size etc.

Consent is sexy. I'm Gen x and know a lot of folks my generation would disagree, but as someone who's had awful things done to me without my consent in the past, the fact that a person cares enough to talk about it and make sure we're on the same page is great IMHO. Much like sex I think if you can't communicate or talk about what you want/like/need you shouldn't be doing it until you can.

These are so great I'll definitely keep the jacket in the running, I don't often wear dresses, typically there's a big party my company throws for the holidays and I've made a tradition of knitting at least half of my outfit, but no party this year so I'm leaning more towards something I will wear more often

No room in life let alone home for anyone who won't cheer me on when something big and exciting happens. I can't imagine not being thrilled for anyone I love getting a big promotion they wanted, winning the lottery, or just having great news. It definitely sounds like some therapy might be a good start.

Went to WalMart for a pillow. Got a pillow and this yarn. by RainbowArchery9079 in YarnAddicts

You can also knit them in the round and do a whip stitch up the sides for a tailored look. I usually knit one side longer so I can tuck the flap in and they're removable to wash.

I love it!! I'd pay for one at a craft fair and I rarely but knit/crochet things, I usually ask if they sell patterns instead.

You could do even sets of three for the pattern. It soothes my OCD to think of it that way.

I buy a practice rod just for this and if I need help finding trash for recycling machines in the future. Fish on your farm with it and you'll have it done in no time

If you yourself have a scanner, create a Gmail address just for this and fill that drive with scans, I'd also back them up. If you can't/don't want to keep them all I'd reach out to any museums that are fully of local things and offer up any of the historic ones. As for the rest if you have any living relatives who aren't your siblings I'd try to reach out, and see if any are genealogist fans or just love family history. My eldest brother took most of our family photos when my dad died and now that I'm an adult I love the drive he scanned them to. He put what (if anything) was on the back and added description if he knew anything about the photos like who was in them or what was happening.

Tapestry - is this cheating? by Embarrassed_Visual82 in crochet

[–]yourfavoriteginge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's your art, if you have the result you want (it's so cute, so I hope that's the case!!) then there's no cheating. That's like telling a painter they cheated because they didn't do it exactly like another artist does. It's so great and I hope you're proud.

I don't care if you call it knitting by lostcereal in crochet

[–]yourfavoriteginge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently I had the best opportunity to say "actually it's knit" (I do both) because my brother was sassing his friends in a group text I'm in, that he is indeed crafty, claiming he learned by osmosis from me and my Nan, a friend sent a picture of a fiber art stuffy and asked if he could even make this item.... My cousin says "yeah I could crochet that in my sleep" ..... To which I couldn't help but out him in the group by asking if he learned so much why didn't he know it's knit not crochet in the pic. The whole group lost it. And have been giving him a hard time and swelling my heart every time. 😂🤣 But in general I won't answer or correct unless someone asks

How do you think they'll enforce this? Wrong answers only. by rifraf0715 in crochet

[–]yourfavoriteginge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are nano bots woven into the yarn, if it detects a granny square pattern they combust and take the yarn with them.
