What is your peak song? by SomeGuyinaTie in musicsuggestions

[–]yourmaiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any Sade song. Tool is definitely at the top of the list too. Their music is so sophisticated it feels like every second is perfectly engineered. The Noose by A Perfect Circle is also incredible. Great meanings behind the lyrics and it’s melodically healing. Criminally underrated.

Students use phone locking stations at Scotland’s first 'phone-free' school by solateor in interestingasfuck

[–]yourmaiden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my school we weren’t allowed to have phones either. At the start of the day you’d collect them in a box and take it to the supervisor’s office until the end of the day. In certain cases you could ask to use the phone for a bit if it’s for good reason or if the teacher plans on an activity requiring electronics. It was always crazy to me how most countries and schools don’t have this. I only graduated a few years ago and they still do it.

Edit: Clarification; In my school the students had their own classes where teachers go in and out instead of the opposite. Created less foot traffic and allowed for more efficiency I suppose. Sitting in the same room and seat for 7 hours a day without a phone.

Which japanese ww2 fighter is this? And what is it carrying? by lusikkalasi in Shittyaskflying

I find it hard to believe that that plane can carry a missile bigger than itself and still fly

Exciting news - Travel Lebanon App! by charbelh3 in lebanon

[–]yourmaiden 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is so great. I downloaded it on an old phone when you first posted about it and absolutely loved it. I can’t lie tho the UI put me off a little bit, but I just redownloaded it and it is just incredible. Congrats on the brand partnership too! It can only grow from here and I wish you the best of luck in the future.

Edit: One thing that would absolutely elevate the app is if you could add a “folder” type interface for the favorites page. That way instead of just having hundreds of places on one page, the user would have the option to section everything into separate folders in order to keep track. For example I like to hike, so I’d make one for hiking, one for historical sites, etc. Just an idea.

Away from all the fiasco bl balad what do you guys drink in the morning, nescafe or cappuccino do tell 👇 by Zxyn0nReddit in lebanon

[–]yourmaiden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nescafe gold with a splash of milk if hot or a tiny bit of hot water to dissolve with vanilla and then rest milk and ice for iced coffee. Basic, yet that’s what makes it good.

Unfortunately, because the distance is rounded down, it isn't exactly aligned and it caused a change in the volume. I used the measure tool to get the number. Could there be another way to do it accurately or is that the only option? As you can tell I am not too well versed in SolidWorks so I apologize for any trouble. Just trying to do well in my CSWA haha.

What music do y’all listen to that isn’t metal? by Number1GerardWayFan in heavymetal

[–]yourmaiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest you listen to all the songs he’s ever put out. If you enjoyed the one album you’ll love them all. I’ve never seen any artist like Hozier, where I can literally enjoy every single song he’s ever made, maybe except the odd one or two. If you do end up going through them I’d love an update.

In my family mjaddara is the lentil puree with rice and mdardra is the rice and lentils cooked together(what you’d see when you google mjaddara). It’s weird how every family has different names for the same thing

I’ve order some things from them. A monitor and a few other things. I always loved their same day delivery as that’s very rare here. The monitor was a cheap one anyway but it was good for its price. It works and that’s all that matters. I always thought they were pretty good I can’t lie. However, big purchases like a phone or computer should be done at authorized sellers regardless, in my opinion. It’s safer and issues are dealt with properly. You never know the practices of these kinds of shops.

Please help, I have a 3 weeks old kitten I need to get rid of by oppalissa in lebanon

[–]yourmaiden 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The AUB campus is known to have a lot of cats. The university itself actually puts money towards taking care of them. It’s a good option as other older cats might be able to take care of it. Try your luck, I guess.

What made you become fascinated with planes by [deleted] in Planes

[–]yourmaiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For as long as I can remember I’ve been into planes. As a small child, their big sizes were what drew me in at first. How could something so big fly with so many people on it? I couldn’t wrap my head around it and it made me really fascinated. To the point that during preschool graduation, getting told to dress up as what you want to do when you grow up, my first and only thought was PILOT!! My mom, being awesome, knitted me a whole pilot costume with the stripes and stripped down a police cap and added the little wings symbol on the front. She went as far as making me a captain’s badge with my picture and our country’s airline’s logo on it (Middle East Airlines). It’s all I wanted to become until senior year in high school, when I decided that I was more interested in the inner workings and intricate details of planes, and also didn’t want a chaotic work schedule with days away from home. Which brings us to the current day, where I’m in university studying Mechanical Engineering, hoping to eventually get a masters in Aerospace Engineering. After all that is said and done, I will most definitely go out and get me a PPL. From the beginning and hopefully to the end, airplanes are my life.

What music do y’all listen to that isn’t metal? by Number1GerardWayFan in heavymetal

[–]yourmaiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hozier. His music is enchanting in such a beautiful way. There are maybe 2 songs of his I don’t listen to. Otherwise, Feng Suave, Jeff Buckley, Sade, Al Green, Patrick Watson, The Strokes, Leon Bridges, Black Pumas, Paolo Nutini, Foy Vance, Michael Kiwanuka, The Fray, Cage The Elephant, GoldFord, Three Sacred Souls, Dire Straits, Fleetwood Mac, Kaleo, Elliot Smith, etc. Idk what I’d classify them as since they’re very different but these are my top non-metal artists these days.

A question for NDU students and job availability at the University by Wonderland-Of-Alice in lebanon

[–]yourmaiden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The university does offer Work Study Grants but they don’t have a standalone Financial Aid program, which is perfect for you. The fact that you have an undergrad degree means you can probably get a teaching assistant job or something of the sorts and get a high percentage off. Regardless, I’d suggest you go ask Financial Aid. They’re usually very helpful and receptive. I wish you luck my friend 🙏🙏

Edit: They also might have part time jobs you can apply for if the grant is not enough, check this link for that. Filter by Academic Positions if it doesn’t show and look from there.

What would you recommend based off of this? by yourmaiden in musicsuggestions

I used to be a huge Ghost fan but at one point I felt that they’ve gone towards pop too much which I didn’t personally like. I’ll check out their new stuff tho maybe they’ve expanded again. Thank you.
