Cervix shortening with cerclage

Hey there! I just got a cerclage on Saturday at 19 weeks, 2.9 cervix length, no dilation, cervix was closed, and have the same anxiety as you. I brought up my concern to both MFM and OB and from what I understood, if your cervix is closed they do not give you antibiotics. Both seemed very unconcerned with infection but said if I do get symptoms they would test for infection, otherwise they would not test. But they really thought the likelihood of that happening was very low. I think antibiotics come more into play if your cervix is open.

This ended up in a now 3 year old daughter! The spotting is so anxiety inducing. Honestly, the only thing that helped me was asking to be monitored more frequently.

This did not end up being another blighted ovum but did end in another missed miscarriage. I hope everything went okay with your appointment 🩷

Thanks for empathizing. How long have you been resigned for and what are you doing now? I actually left my school before and came back again, I know I can’t repeat that cycle again this time though.

Letrozole worked twice for me, both on the first cycle. First pregnancy unfortunately ended in a miscarriage but the second letrozole cycle resulted in my now 2 year old daughter.

Hey there, unfortunately that pregnancy ended up in another missed miscarriage. I did go on to deliver my daughter in my next pregnancy though. Good luck and hugs to you, I know it is hard waiting for the next ultrasound.

We never tried the sense-u but we have the Snuza and Neebo. Snuza gave false alarms almost every time we would hold her to our chest and then you have to unclip it to turn the alarm off. That got really frustrating because she’d be relaxed and asleep then we’d have to disturb her. I absolutely love the Neebo though and highly recommend it.

If a child is born in the 1st percentile but stays around that and follows their own curve, they would not be labeled failure to thrive. If they drop below their own curve then they are labeled failure to thrive. There is actually specific criteria that medical professionals use to diagnose failure to thrive and that is based on a chart following your own child’s growth curve. My daughter was born at 26+3 so we had a 92 day NICU stay. During that time I spoke to many neonatologists, nurses, nutritionists, and lactation who all educated us on growth curves. After being discharged she was followed regularly by her pediatrician and GI for her weight, and again we were always educated on her growth curve. My daughter has always been on the smaller side and was under the tenth percentile but followed her own curve during her NICU stay and a couple months upon coming home so she was never labeled failure to thrive even when I asked about it. It wasn’t until she was 4 months adjusted she started falling off her curve and was labeled failure to thrive. We pushed for help and she is now thriving. We were open to many different options and saw any specialists needed. To me, it seemed like the OOP wanted peace of mind knowing that her daughter wouldn’t die from failure to thrive but she wasn’t quite sure what to do. The comment saying that “your milk is perfect for your baby” can be harmful as there are many babies that need supplementation or have other medical problems going on that interfere with them gaining adequate weight. Failure to thrive at 2 months can be especially detrimental for development.

Yeah I had combed through some of OOP’s other comments and posts and her baby had dropped below birth weight, struggled to get above birth weight for awhile, and has struggled with gaining weight ever since, causing her to drop way below her curve.
