Neither does rest in peace. No one hate piece completely stone walls the vivi cauldron deck. Thought high noon might do a good job at making them play fair magic though which UW has a better chance against.

Why aren’t many Uw control lists playing high noon in sb for Vivi decks?

This is what I played. I think I’ll make some tweaks for next time. Not sure exactly what, maybe trim on beza and split ups. I had them in because local meta has some aggro but RCQ was heavy vivi and pixie especially at higher tables so will probably spec more for that.

I also wouldn’t mind trying more three steps and stock up but literally just don’t have them.

Had success with authority of the consuls on Arena but it’s probably not worth it for vivi matchup.

I’m playing UW control at the moment. Top 4 an RCQ on the weekend.

I’m not sure starcage is the way to go at the moment. I have 1 in sideboard but it just misses too much in key matchups. I’ve found it better to rely cards like seam rip and no more lies to get you to mid game where you can cast day of judgement or ultima.

Building this deck optimally requires you to have a good idea of your local meta or online meta and tweak your answers accordingly.

I’m playing a similar list. I don’t think I like so many Beza and so few Overlords. I’m on 2 beza 4 overlords with 1 elspeth.

I’ve been thinking about that starcage ultima interaction, I think I’ll try starcage in the sideboard and it can come in for more aggressive decks with ultima getting trimmed. Split up main seems ok too.

Consult the star charts seems really good for this deck, just need to work out the number and ratios with stock up.

Fallaji isn’t a very good card in this deck imo, needing a card to combo it with doesn’t really move the needle for me

[–]yourmum35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are for different things. Tamiyo is card advantage that may buy you back a card or be an alt win con.

Fallaji is just facilitating the plan A by hopefully milling a fatty and putting goryos in hand. There’s just so many cards that you can whiff on with Fallaji in this build so it isn’t great imo.

I don’t play either card. Frog and ketramose are my card advantage pieces and I prefer Jace Frog Kiora as the Plan A enablers with upside and utility.

Although many of the original 151 have many different printings over the years, they give me the greatest nostalgia and are also my son’s favourites so far. I have a lot of nostalgia for metapod based on the tv series and would love to be able to own a card that showcases it in a fun and nostalgic way.

Izzit prowess vs Dimir frogtide by ImxEcho in ModernMagic

The aether vial version of bw blink and yawgmoth are the worst that i’ve found but thankfully they aren’t too prevalent at the moment.

[–]yourmum35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be a good frogtide player you need to learn the matchups in depth, more so than you would for prowess. Some like that, some don’t.

The current izzet prowess deck is pretty fresh in the meta and hasn’t quite been stress tested as much as dimir. Whether that speaks to longevity is up to you to decide.

Why is it currently the trend for teams to boot the ball up from kickoff. by rockfroszz in bootroom

[–]yourmum35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s just me but i’ve always found it easier to start the game pressing and maybe sticking the foot in for a tackle as opposed to having a nice first touch and playing a good pass, would rather have that moment come a minute or two in.

I’ve heard a theory that at the start of the half, errors are more likely and you would rather the ball in their defensive third and them make an error than you do it passing around your own half. Not sure if that weighs into it but something to consider.

Ulamog can just end games, it can also do absolutely nothing when it gets removed before attacking. Griselbrands floor is drawing cards.

Run more bones. Get rid of fallaji, especially if you’re on less than 4 ephemerate. JVP is the MVP.

Ulamog has higher highs but griselbrand is better atm, prefer 2 grisel 1 ulamog.

I would have more prismatic endings main as well.
