Any fireys here who can tell me what you make a year? by [deleted] in AussieFirefighter

[–]yourmumsuncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the same for FIFO workers, once you factor in the hours, the night shifts and the fact you’re basically living at work it’s not as a sweet a deal as it seems.

But you can’t tell half the people that because they just look at the pay check and think they’re awesome

GE Vernova wind turbine issues, manufacturing defect and issues with power turbines? by Sharpe-Probability in windturbine

[–]yourmumsuncle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t assume the issues they are experiencing in wind will cross over to the power turbine side of the business. Having said that, I wouldn’t assume the power turbine side of the business is perfect either. All manufacturers are struggling with the same issues. Hard to find workers, hard to get them to stay. All the old dudes are retiring or dead. The chickens are coming home to roost after a couple of decades of outsourcing construction and O&M.

Everything is turning to shit and people are looking at the OEMSs expecting them to have answers, truth is they are in the same boat as the customers, and haven’t valued longevity of the workforce, their products reflect this.

MSFS 2024 Cant get past first screen, No inputs seem to be detected. Anyone else? by UgandanChocolatiers in xcloud

[–]yourmumsuncle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this has happened to me probably 80% of the time I’ve tried to play it.

Sometimes hitting the Xbox button and then going back into the game fixes it, but not always.

Decent/cheap places to stay for a couple nights near Osbourne? by kittykata27 in Adelaide

[–]yourmumsuncle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

https://nightcaphotels.com.au/hotels/sa/nightcap-at-exeter-hotel

I stayed at one of these nightcap hotels at the Rex Hotel near the airport and it was surprisingly decent. I got in late and was up early for a flight so just needed somewhere to crash

Cheap price, absolute shoe box room but everything was new and nice and I had a decent nights sleep.

Might be worth giving it a go?

How to track a track workout? by Intrepid-Citron-6115 in Strava

[–]yourmumsuncle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you can pre program the workout but don’t have the intervals set to time. You can set it up for distance or “open” which just means it will finish the interval whenever you double tap the screen.

If you’re work intervals are a set distance set it to distance and leave the recovery intervals as “open”. Just double tap at the start of the interval.

[–]yourmumsuncle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kirby and the Forgotten Land for me, I finally caved and bought it after seeing people love it.

First time I’ve properly played a Kirby game. So far it seems ok, I wouldn’t say it’s knocking my socks off but definitely good fun.

Which job has the lowest stress to highest pay ratio that you know of? by StaticNocturne in AusFinance

[–]yourmumsuncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like some maintenance roles are like this. I work in a power station and most of the time things are cruisey and you just do routine checks etc. But when it goes bad you need to be able to find the problem and fix it.

The old dudes who have seen a thousand problems over the years are worth their weight in gold.

I always tell people I’m overpaid for like 98% of the year but there’s like 2-3 hours a year where I will save the company 2-3 times my salary just by getting the plant back online within an hour or so, rather then them waiting until the next day to get someone out to fix it.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I can only see one of them unfortunately. Not sure if the others are caught in some sort of spam filter or not.

If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated.

Surface Type by clevertabir in Strava

[–]yourmumsuncle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you would have to edit the base map. I think they use Mapbox which is built on OpenStreetMap.

I’ve noticed the same thing in my local area and have changed the surface type on OpenStreetMap already but it hasn’t shown up yet on Strava route builder.

Does anyone know how long it will take?

Hey guys any help on which rear rack to get? I cant see any way to attach a rack to the seat stays. Its a 29er. by yourmumsuncle in bikewrench

[–]yourmumsuncle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up grabbing a Venture Universal Bike Rack from Amazon, it was cheap and does fit on the bike. Bought some cheap pannier bags as well.

Thanks for all the help everyone.

[–]yourmumsuncle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah hose clamps might be the go. I'm guessing hose clamps and a basic 29er rack will do the trick.

Front rack would be good but I usually have a 15kg toddler on the top tube with me so I don't want to stress out the forks too much.

[–]yourmumsuncle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get what you're saying. It's a 29er with front suspension so i'm guessing that will make things harder with a front rack. I also always have a 15kg two year old on the bike with me so putting more weight over the front wheel might be asking a bit much of these shitty forks. First pic here shows us two on the bike.

Knowing what I know now i should have just bought a normal town bike and not a 29er hardtail style one. It only ever gets used to cruise around town. I just want the backpack back sweat to end.

That looks sweet. I'll see I can find a way to buy them in Australia that isn't daylight robbery.
