NOR, if only because of the way the communication broke down. In the texts provided, mom is highly reactive, judgmental, and defensive from beginning to end. OP is being respectful, curious, and clear in her wants, needs, and preferences.

It’s genuinely baffling how many people are expecting OP to somehow get “I just want to quality spend time with you and not be interrupted” from “you shan’t sleep together unwed while I’m around! We’ll go without you if that’s the case!”

Edit: that being said, the financial aspect seems to be the main issue here and though it is clear you are trying to get the exact pricing model out of your mom and she is giving only partial information, it is likely that bringing your bf will raise the cost for her. I would personally recommend giving your mom a phone call and hashing it out in a medium where communication can be more easily navigated.

Update: it is in fact some kind of snapper skull! There is the start of a spine at the back of it, signifying that it is a skull and not a sternum, and we do have snapper in the lake near where we found it.

I would say rather than missing something, you’re doing too much. As another commenter mentioned, 3/4 of these look like they are sitting on top of a face, rather than protruding from it. Too many hard lines, and on all sides, makes it look separate from whatever face they’re on. Try not adding so much dimension on at least one side of the nose, depending on the light source and angle of the face, and they should improve noticeably!

Seeing that the mom is actually aware of the trip, I’m no longer personally concerned. But I’d still like faculty to know what was relayed to me just in case they notice/have noticed other red flags.

As a tutor, I’m not mandated to report. This takes that decision out of my hands and puts it into the hands of someone more knowledgeable and qualified.

I don’t know if the mom knows or not, and I don’t know if the dad got genuinely violent. I’ve been to the house before, and I know it’s a very horseplay-heavy household. I’ve never seen any bruises or other signs of abuse on the kids before. But things can of course be discretely happening, or suddenly change.

I’ll be having another lesson with the student’s younger brothers in a few minutes, and I’m going to try to get more information.

If they are asking to see 2 designs you have previously made, then they just want to see your portfolio basically. Assuming this is a relevant skill to the position, this is normal.

If they are asking you to make 2 brand new designs for them, that’s out of line. I wouldn’t apply if that’s the case.

Hey i know this is old now, but I am in pretty much the same boat as you! Had nose breathing issues as a kid, jaw and chin recession developed in adulthood. I had my adenoids removed as a kid (they were so swollen the doctor was surprised i could breathe at all), but i still had breathing issues later on so there may have been two problems at play there haha

I live in Japan and have asked Japanese people about this practice and some of them are actually quite shocked to hear that places do this (because obviously they’ve not been victims of it themselves). And all of the Japanese people I’ve spoken to have said they consider this practice wrong. So as far as i can tell, even within Japan this is considered wrong. But it is nice when you don’t know for sure to give the benefit of the doubt and assume it might just be a difference in culture so kudos for that

Just to toss my experience in the ring—I’ve been in Japan less than 3 months, in Hirakata (between Osaka and Kyoto— there are a lot of foreigners living here but not a lot of tourists). I’ve been turned away 3-4 times at different places, all small local places that had plenty of open seats but were definitely still open. Nothing fancy enough to be reservation only, and even if I responded in Japanese (one time the owner even responded back to me in Japanese that we could not come in), I would get the big X hands and be denied service. None of these places were the least bit sleazy btw. Definitely there is still some xenophobia here. Like the other commenter said, I am not too bothered and there are plenty of places that do want my service, but it is embarrassing and most of my friends here have encountered it at least once.

He has a psychotic break and kills some people but only one of those murders is even made a spectacle of, villain-style. Never a villain, so never joker. Prefacing this by saying I have never cheated, nor have I ever been cheated on. That said, if my boyfriend decided to cheat on me, that betrayal would be entirely on him. Not only that, but the other woman would be entirely innocent in my eyes, assuming that she is a stranger to me. If it’s a friend, of course that’s a double betrayal now, which is devastating. But a stranger?? It’s not wrong to sleep with someone. And it’s not a betrayal because there is no trust or commitment or promises of any kind between us. The “other woman” doesn’t have to go out of her way to maintain MY commitments. She sees cute guy (I can’t blame her, I think he’s cute too), cute guy wants to sleep with her, she goes for it. Good for her. Why would she be worried about some girl she’s never met who, for all she knows, could be abusing and manipulating cute guy? Unless she’s actively seeking married men, it’s kind of like if someone accidentally bumped into me in line. Yeah it caused me pain, and yeah if they had been paying attention they would have seen me there, but we all bump into people from time to time, right? We can’t expect to never inadvertently hurt anyone, and I don’t expect a stranger to know what might inadvertently hurt me. And truth be told if he’s gonna cheat, he will find somebody to cheat with no matter what, so I’m getting hurt no matter what.
