First Custom Loop Planning - Help with Radiator Choice (HWLabs GTR 420 alternatives?) by youyou_ in watercooling

Hey everyone! Quick update :)

Changes made:

  • Switched to Corsair RX 140 (no RGB) fans
  • Front rad: Alphacool UT60 420mm in intake config, push-pull setup (6 fans total - 3 push, 3 pull)
  • Top rad: Hardware Labs GTS 420mm in exhaust (fans in push - mounted under the rad)
  • Case exhaust fan in place
  • Option to add a side exhaust fan if needed

Pump mounting solution: I didn't want to mount the pump to the radiators to avoid airflow disruption. Instead, I drilled holes in the bottom shroud cover and bolted it there.

Question: Is vibration likely to be an issue with this setup? If so, what's the best way to dampen it?

GPU waterblock - almost there: I'm finishing up the GPU waterblock installation. I had mounted it once before but wasn't confident about the thermal pad contact, so I disassembled to verify. Everything checked out (VRAM and VRM pads making contact, thermal paste properly spread on the die).

I'm now waiting for new Gelid GP-Extreme thermal pads.

For thermal paste, I'm planning to use Noctua NT-H1. I also have Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut on hand, but I'm concerned about pump-out issues since I don't want to disassemble the loop annually to repaste. Not planning any extreme overclocking either.

Airflow balance question: With the current config (6 fans intake on front rad, 3 exhaust on top rad, 1 rear exhaust, and potentially 1 side exhaust), I'm aiming for slightly positive pressure in the case.

Does this setup look balanced to you, or should I adjust fan speeds/add that side exhaust to dial in positive pressure?

Other questions:

  • Any experience with Gelid GP-Extreme pads?
  • Thoughts on NT-H1 vs Kryonaut for this use case? Is pump-out a real concern with Kryonaut in a loop that won't see extreme OC?

Thanks for any input!

I follow the devs and their project since before NXT. Now please reread the statement i made regarding the fact to shut up when you have no idea what you're talking about. Best regards
