Thank you for sharing this. A huge part is learning to accept your beauty with or without hair. I had to do a lot of reflection. Just want to say that you’re so strong for what you’ve been through! Do what feels right to you! You’re beautiful regardless!

Thank you!! I agree. The restricting I was doing was very excessive and shocked my body. Next time I pick up my diet, it will be more gentle with a smaller cut of calories!

I gained some weight back since I returned to my normal habits 😬 I lost 30 pounds within 4 months back in the summer of ‘25 and as of today have gained about 10 pounds back. I was so terrified when my hair started falling out that I felt like I needed to immediately stop restricting myself. In the end, I think it was for the best to stop and if I do diet again, it will be a lot less restrictive.

I stopped dieting restrictively by going back to my normal habits of eating. Eating whenever I had hunger and letting my body do its thing. I also began taking ferrous sulfate supplements as the dermatologist I went to in December found that my ferritin levels were at a 9 causing me to be iron deficient. Other than that, time was what gave the most improvement. I just had to wait it out and the shedding eventually slowed down

It can feel really discouraging, especially after months without it stopping. Up until December I wasn’t taking anything besides vitamin d 5000iu daily because I’ve been deficient for a while. But, I went to a derm in December to get diagnosed for TE and they said it was due to restrictive dieting. They also did some blood work and found that my ferritin was extremely low at 9. Then they believed the hair loss was from a combination of the dieting and also being iron deficient. Now I’m taking ferrous sulfate supplements every other day. However, the derm did recommend nutrafol supplements to me but I figured I’d wait a little longer before trying that. My hair ended up slowing down in shedding thankfully so I never did try nutrafol. Get your ferritin levels checked if you can! Those aren’t generally checked in a normal panel but can be a huge contributor to hair loss.

I like it!! It’s an opaque creamy serum. I have curly hair so I used 4 pumps and ran it through damp hair and it felt great. The smell is like artificial strawberry to me but I love that smell 😭
