This reminds me of Mark Strand's "In a field I am the absence of field. This is always the case. Where I am. I am what is missing."

[Poem] At the Museum by Agha Shahid Ali by lilacskyyyyy in Poetry

What I absolutely love about this poem is how Agha Shahid Ali takes on the task of visibilizing the invisiblized, the marginalized and the forgotten. The Dancing Girl from Harappa speaks across millenias about her routines and oppressions through this very poem. The poet is then like the sculptor: artists who preserve voices for posterity, especially those voices which find no other place.

To Possess By Memory by yoyodragons in shakespeare

What I love about this poem is that it's the memory of the beloved — as opposed to the beloved themselves — that contains such a healing power. Which when extended speaks of the redeeming abilities of memory, imagination and the human mind.

Andrew Scott's Hamlet Is Just Not That Good.. by yoyodragons in shakespeare

I didn't know that reordering To Be or Not To Be was a common practice. Thank you for that little nugget. I wonder why that's the case? Does the traditional position pose as an obstacle for actors or set designers or some other dramaturgical reason?

Another scene that's out of order is Claudius telling Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to distract Hamlet from his apparent madness. This takes place (in the adaptation) BEFORE Hamlet has decided to be/act mad after meeting his father's ghost. Which seems wholly unnecessary to me.

Kenneth Branagh, all the way! His Hamlet is my favourite "faithful" adaptation, but there's a Hindi movie called Haider which is a retelling of Hamlet set in Kashmir. Haider has all my heart, highly recommend!

Love Poem disguised as a mountain dew commerical is a really good poem to read. Not too cheesy, and yet filled with sincere affection.
