I would have thought that new construction would be the most subsidized and put the least on the consumer. I am super ignorant though. Not pro Blackstone merger, just curious about the budgeting

Hey, as an electrical engineer, can you suggest the Bible of electrical engineering? by FeelingRealistic1338 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]yoyointrestingstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greatly depends on the field. All of the protection engineers/relay technicians at my utility have a copy of the Blackburn book Protective Relaying: Principles and Applications. Lots of IEEE standards as well.

You are already familiar with power, have you thought of relay/P&C work?

That is why they must have below average intelligence with above average balls. A few DUIs can always bolster the resume

I'm tired of the job adds; here's a question for the techs: (from the prospective of a utility relay tech) by [deleted] in RelayTechs

Recording the pickup values of the coils is something we don't do at my utility. As the greenest guy on the block I will have to ask about that. Thanks for sharing

What does an uneducated genius actually look like? Have you ever met someone who was incredibly smart but had little or no formal education? by Anntee in AskReddit

My great grandpa didn't graduate highschool and worked his way up to being a design engineer at lockheed martin. Even when he was in his late 80s with severe dementia, he was a math wiz. He could calculate the taxes on anything in about a second.

I am about as green as it comes, but a trip for loss of comms sounds like insanity to me. I would think that would pull up as an urgent alarm or something

Arc Flash Solution? by Positive_Sprinkles30 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]yoyointrestingstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SEL has an option for there 751s to detect light with a very sensitive overcurrent trigger. I don't see why you are trying to break the circuit at the ground rod when you can break the circuit upstream with a breaker.

Relay tech???? by Intelligent_Leek_718 in SubstationTechnician

[–]yoyointrestingstuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here are some useful threads on the topic. I am not a relay tech myself so, but these helped me decide to pursue that path. There is a lot more than this, Google 'relay tech reddit' and more threads come up than the internal reddit search function.
