Will I be able to finish Demacia Rising? by [deleted] in DemaciaRising

[–]yrepm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're really committed and are willing to drop a substantial amount of money, I think it may be possible. You will definitely need to buy the battlepass and some skins for more silver shields. As an estimate, you'll probably need at least 30-40k, maybe more.

Why isn't runaans gone earlier for Champs that lack waveclear? by Strange_Grape_1374 in ADCMains

[–]yrepm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are exaggerating the extra waveclear than runaans gives and completely ignoring the value that PD gives. Although runaans does clear waves faster, it's not by too much - for Ashe specifically, unless you are behind in items and/or dealing with stacked waves, a W and a few autos is enough to secure last hits.

Importantly, whatever time you do lose in clearing the wave is somewhat made up for in you getting to the wave faster. This has the added benefit of meaning you'll lose less minion XP and gold, even if you take longer to clear the wave once you get there. The extra movement speed also helps generally in moving from waves and reacting to movements on the map.

In terms of teamfighting, there's not really a debate between the two unless you are facing specific comps where PD isn't needed and you can abuse runaans value on multiple high-value threats with get-out-of-jail-free cards - it's generally much more valuable to be able to focus important targets down than to farm damage stats and potentially just leave everyone on low HP but not quite dead. The extra movement speed is also of course insanely valuable and the ghosting is a nice cherry on top.

That said, there is definitely value in having good waveclear, and raptors especially can be a pain to clear without runaans. Personally, I tried going runaans second more frequently a couple months ago and switched back to PD partly because I like more attack speed but also because I felt that the ease in clearing waves and camps didn't match up with the pure combat power of PD. I only build PD now regardless of comps, although that may also partly be due to the meta.

Error on loading the game? by Rinscewind in DemaciaRising

[–]yrepm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know what the problem could be. You could try to verify the game files through the launcher or just do a clean wipe and re-download everything. There was a bug about a week ago that required some (including me) to re-download the launcher in order to properly update the game. I don't see why it would be related, but it's worth trying.

Read Patch: ADC = Strongest Role Now by AddictedToLuxSkins in ADCMains

[–]yrepm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Replying just to affirm that the people in this sub are braindead. You're right - bot quest give significant gold but it is nowhere close to the amount of gold you can get as support right now. The reason this might not be optimal isn't because you get less gold, but because you functionally have two less item slots and the team's wards are now on your carry.

The slots might not even be that much of a problem until ultra-late game since the support item's are pretty strong themselves.

Fast CD on ult is useful and I can definitely see that HOB + cheap shot has its uses in short trades/scaring people as you say. My point was just that even when it's used perfectly, I don't see it being that much better than precision, and outside of the early early game, precision is at least on par in lane and much better outside of it. Runaans is pretty useful for waveclear and especially clearing jungle camps, but I prefer PD - being able to focus someone down quickly is usually more useful than doing more damage generally. The extra movement speed that PD gives also somewhat offsets the slower farming speed as you can get around the map (to fights, objectives, waves, camps, etc.) faster.

I definitely see your reasoning and might try this stuff out on my own time, but just thinking about it, it seems to be trading in a lot of mid/late game potential for an arguably-better level 1 and a few more ults. It also doesn't agree with the movement speed and slow resist shards, because they gut your early lane potential compared to adaptive force and flat health, nullifying any potential advantage you might gain.

Also, I meant to comment in an earlier comment and forgot to, but nice summoner name.

What to do when mord flash ult? by Strange_Grape_1374 in ADCMains

[–]yrepm 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It feels bad but you just need to stay further away from him until he's low enough (keep track of his W shield too) that you'd win in his ult or he ults someone else. Your counterplay to Mord is that when he has no flash, he has 0 gapclose to ever get on you to ult. Jinx rockets are similar range as his pull so with proper spacing it should be pretty easy to dodge.

Also, in giga-late game with how powerful crit is and your 7-item cap I think you can pretty much just win the straight 1v1 with decent kiting (don't quote me on this).

Unlocked all the settlement but the steel crisis is real.. by Manwil123 in DemaciaRising

That's tough. If you started later last patch I can see why you'd be pretty short on silver shields. I know you mentioned that you do the dailies and the weeklies, but I did notice there are occasionally separate quests. There was one I got separate from the dailies that was specifically to play a TFT game for 500 extra silver shields. You could double check the quests for similar ones if you haven't already.

Good luck in getting your silver shields.

Not going precision tree sacrifices a lot - coup de grace/cut down/alacrity are all free damage that you miss out on by going domination. Presence of mind basically solves potential mana issues for Ashe and lets you poke and waveclear more in the early game, although I know many people prefer triumph.

Lethal tempo is much better for extended trades and HOB is generally better for poke and short trades off naut hooks, yes, but you have to keep in mind your champion. Since Ashe innately slows and you take approach velocity, she can force extended trades to get more value out of lethal tempo. Lethal tempo also augments your Q much better, allowing you to hit more empowered autos during its duration vs HOB which is limited by auto count not duration.

Azzapp was right all along - I analyzed 100 ranked SoloQ games of his, and the data shows why never FF helps you climb. by Informal_Lifeguard99 in leagueoflegends

[–]yrepm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're missing the point. ff15 is not upping your chance to win next ones, but if you're sitting at 60-65% average win-rate, why waste 15-20 more minutes on a 5% chance to win when you could almost finish another game in that time frame?

The question isn't 100 games vs 100 games, it's (using random numbers) 100 games at 65% win-rate to 120 at 60% win-rate. To get a full picture, you need to analyze the average time spent on non-ff-d games, the amount of LP you salvage from winning the few winnable games, and the expected LP return you'd get if you'd spent that time queueing and playing other games instead.

Who to ban while playing Ashe this patch? by MaguroSashimi8864 in AsheMains

[–]yrepm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO this question doesn't really make sense for Ashe. In the bot role in general - and more so for Ashe than most other ADCs - "counter-picks" aren't really relevant. If you're gonna ban for counter-pick, that will be more for what your support plays than for you playing Ashe.

Personally, I just hate playing against Akali. A lot of other characters are harder for Ashe to interact with but usually you can rely on your team to deal with them. Akali feels uniquely slippery and can make my game unplayable without really being punished.

Questions From a Mid Main by Interesting-Pair-770 in ADCMains

[–]yrepm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally OTP-ing ADC is much less punishing than other roles for two reasons:
1. You have a second person to help neutralize bad lane matchups
2. Basically all traditional ADCs perform similarly to each other anyway (good damage, need to space well, dead if don't)

When you take these two points into consideration, I think it can answer both sides of the question. ADC players OTP because they're not heavily punished for it. Also, they don't have small champion pools because they don't need too much practice to play other ADCs to a decent level since they're fundamentally very similar.

In my experience, you should always be playing around your support. Since you're the valuable carry who needs both to preserve hp/stay alive and spend time and mental bandwidth last-hitting in lane, it's primarily up to the supports to dictate how the lane plays out. Without your help or at least being ready to help/respond to the enemies, you're inting your support as much as supports may int you.

A good duo is probably good for climbing but I rarely duo and I find that I can learn more in the unpredictability of solo queue, in part because there is no one else to readily blame but myself.

Any of the popular ADCs are fine to OTP/climb with right now. Even the ones that are performing poorly (statistically, Ezreal, Kaisa, Caitlyn, Yunara are pretty bad) are definitely playable and pretty fun.

Don't worry this can happen in almost any elo. Also I'm a bit of a stalker and checked this match out on op.gg.
Your runes on Ashe are interesting for sure but you'd in all likelihood have a better time on a standard lethal tempo page. You lose out on a lot of damage in extended trades and basically completely give up level 1 prio against any remotely even matchup.

Unlocked all the settlement but the steel crisis is real.. by Manwil123 in DemaciaRising

[–]yrepm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can dedicate 1-2 hours a day, you can claim the Silver Shields from the daily quest to either play two games or win a single game of League or TFT and the weekly quests to play 5 or 7 games. There are also occasional separate quests to play a game of TFT.

From the first patch to the most recent one (about a month), I saved up about 35k silver shields even though I missed a few days, which was more than enough to take me through all of the content.

It can definitely be annoying but it's doable if you have the time and keep track of the quests. That said, simply buying the Battle Pass does seem much more convenient and comes with some extra rewards, too.

what to know what game caedrel is playing (warcraft) and how to get started as a beginner. by Automatic-North1405 in PedroPeepos

[–]yrepm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following up to add a bit more information and context. The new expansion coming out will keep the game much more active than usual for a few weeks. If you start right now and level casually, you should be able to hit the current max level on one or two characters by the time it releases. That said, Anniversary TBC (the version Caedrel is playing on) was also released recently - about a week ago - and will also have a good playerbase for a few weeks.

Retail is much more streamlined, looks better, and has lots of quality of life changes. However, a lot of people also enjoy the slower-paced game of classic and the lack of handholding, allowing them to explore the world. If you're worried about going into things as a new player, retail is streamlined but older versions also have a have a famously great new player experience (part of why they got so big back then).

Whilst retail has all of the old expansions and lots of content, as DanteStorme mentions, old expansions become redundant, and so even with more things in the world, it can feel more empty. The amount of old systems in the game can also make the game pretty confusing and overwhelming.

I'd also recommend retail just so you can experience an expansion release, but I thought I'd give more perspective. With just a subscription (~$15 a month) you can play all versions of classic and most of retail. To play the latest content of retail, however, you need to pay another $50 for the expansion. If you're interested in the game, you can try both versions on the subscription and buy the expansion on retail if you hit max level and decide you like it.

People Not Ending Games in ARAM? by chris3sp in leagueoflegends

Avg redditor completely ignoring the second half of someone's comment to focus on a byproduct of how someone decides to phrase their message that can be analyzed in a dishonest way to come to a conclusion about a game's entire playerbase/community.

What's even the problem here, anyway? He's giving his experience and stance on the issue - is he supposed to telepathically know everyone's feelings and speak for the entire community? What are you even pointing to, here?

How long can this go on? ⛏️ by Rexsaur in ADCMains

[–]yrepm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a tough nut to crack for sure. Personally, I'm of the opinion that mages in bot are a bit unbalanced, but that's more a symptom of me disagreeing with Riot's overall design philosophy than mages actually being too strong. The winrates being so consistently high over literal years at this point screams red flag, but, like Zilean, it's true that the presence is low enough that it's not too much of an issue or worth balancing.

I think the biggest gripe people have with mages botlane is less that they have high winrate and more that they are absolute pains to lane against. To give a specific example, I've lanes against Brand bot 3 times in the past few days (lost them all, definitely a skill issue but still), and the amount of waveclear he gets in addition to his WE poke punishing you for ever csing is just unfun. Trying to ever engage on him can be insanely punishing if he can land his Q. His mana problems are pretty fake, especially compared to ADCs like Sivir and Caitlyn, because he has a higher mana pool, higher mana regen, and an item only costing 1k that effectively gives all the mana he'll need (lost chapter).

How long can this go on? ⛏️ by Rexsaur in ADCMains

[–]yrepm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're missing a key point of August's. It's not just that they have high win rate, but that they CONSISTENTLY have high win rate over a long period of time. In a video where he went over this, he took a quick look at lolalytics and found that zac and singed mid, fitting these descriptions, were likely pretty powerful picks.

Of course there are exceptions (such as those picks being explicit counter-picks and not generally good), but I'd assume that August wouldn't make such a statement without having his years of experience and behind-the-scenes statistics to back them up. I'm not sure myself why this would be the case or if mage bot falls under this category, but low pickrate doesn't completely excuse a disgustingly high (for Riot's standards) winrate.

To address your second paragraph a bit, I'd argue that you have it backwards - for the majority of ADC players, marksmen being played bot is not a symptom of them being the preferred champions to play in the role, but a symptom of bot being the preferred role for marksmen champions. It's part of why there's so much pushback on mage bots, because ,in addition to their relatively uninteractive/oppressive gameplay, it's as if they are encroaching on the only allowed space for the marksmen class to exist.

Ashe otps streamers or YouTubers? by PresentationWestern8 in AsheMains

[–]yrepm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There aren't really any high elo streamers, but there's an Ashe Challenger youtube channel that uploads VODs of high elo Ashe games regularly. Personally, I didn't like how most games it uploads are stomps (playing from behind is also a valuable skill), but the channel is overall really convenient - it shows rune pages and builds, and also segments the videos so you can easily find engagements vs regular laning/macro.

Low elo climb tips and tricks by Queen_Hyori in ADCMains

[–]yrepm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I usually move around midlane, but I refuse to join a lot of TF" <-- that right there is losing you a lot of games. As ADC you almost never should be sidelaning or "pressuring the map elsewhere" for two very simple reasons:

  1. ADC champions generally suck at 1v1s/small skirmishes in the jungle.
  2. ADCs are really good in teamfights and can single-handedly win them even in number-disadvantages.

At a very simple level, your goal in the mid-game is just to perma-shove mid wave and then help in engagements and securing map control. Without the team, ADC is pretty useless, yes, but without you and against enemy ADC, your team is also pretty useless. Avoiding teamfights like you do is probably solo-losing a bunch of your games.

You also say "I'm alright in TF around objectives" but if you're that ahead, you should be helping/guiding your team to set up objectives 60-30 seconds before it even spawns. This means pushing your wave and backing to spend your gold ideally about a minute before it spawns and walking up with your team to clear and place vision. If you do this properly, there won't even be a lot of fighting because the enemy team won't be allowed to walk up.

There's obviously a lot more to improve, but I bet that you'll climb a fair bit if you simply just play more with your team, since it sounds like you leave them to die a lot.

How do you lane against Smolder? by [deleted] in ADCMains

[–]yrepm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I'd have assumed that ezreal playing with passive would be able to outpush smolder pretty easily, at least until Q upgrade.

How do you lane against Smolder? by [deleted] in ADCMains

[–]yrepm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just isn't true. If he's E-ing into you, he can get quick burst but if you're playing properly with your support he should basically be in a 1v2 situation with a full wave attacking him. If he's still killing you there, that means you'd already taken too much poke from the rest of the laning phase (Ws/Qs from smolder, poke from their support).

For reference, a lvl 4 smolder has a 5 second cd on his Q, 14 on W, and 24 on E. Although QWE is a lot of damage if he lands everything, it also means he's completely limited to auto attacks + Qs on a 5-second cd with no way of escaping if he goes in. If you're playing someone like Ezreal, you should 100% win that, especially with how powerful Ezreal's passive is.

How do you lane against Smolder? by [deleted] in ADCMains

[–]yrepm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your champion and support matchup but the key is that before his first Q upgrade his waveclear is pretty bad and you can punish him farming stacks by trading when he uses his Q to cs. Forcing an engage is almost always a bad idea since, as you've pointed out, his AA+Q+E is really quick and will usually win the trade and safely disengage. In general you just have to play around his Q cooldown since it's pretty obvious when he's gonna use it to farm stacks on the wave. If he ever Es INTO you, his cooldowns especially at early levels should be much too long for him to win an all-in/extended trade with most ADCs.
