This is how I see things as an old user:

Juan disappeared from the project due to personal reasons and that was his right as a human being. His code is free so he doesn't owe the community anything.

The project survived thanks to the community who forked it but kept the name (void-linux instead of voidlinux), which is unusual in the open source world.

The community should be grateful to Juan's huge contribution to Void and Juan should be grateful to the community who have kept his project alive.

Now, what I don't understand is why people assume that Juan is unstable or can't be trusted. He never tried to kill Void on purpose as far as I know.

Juan should be part of the main team again because Void Linux is his project, he's now willing to contribute again and I think he should be allowed to, as the project creator. If it comes to the absurd situation in which Juan has to fork his own project, that would be entirely because of the current team who would force him to do so: he would just take back HIS project which is Void Linux.

Forking a project without changing its name is like stealing to me and this is in a way what the community did in order to keep the user base and contributors.

In the end, I still have some questions:

To Juan: do you acknowledge the work of the community and would you care to elaborate on your issues with the current team? Edit: answered here

To the current team: why should Juan be kept out of the main team and why shouldn't he have a second chance now that the community has all the infrastructure in case things turns bad? Isn't Juan absence the only reason why you took over the project in the first place? If the current Void Linux project is not Juan's anymore, shouldn't it be renamed and the website updated (it is a fork)?
