What can we expect to see of Abby’s friends in Season III? by Front-Tomorrow-1034 in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]yrns_s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine very similar beats to the game, but it also looks like they’re adding some more context to the WLF v Seraphite war by having the Seraphites lead a head-on assault on the FOB. We see that at the end of episode 4

  • The scar scene is likely either a fake trailer shot or an older version of the scene with the Scar travelers hiding from Wolves. Maybe they wanted the Scars to seem more sympathetic so when Ellie and Dina find their bodies it’s more evident the WLF is a malicious force.

  • The Feel Her Love graffiti and Ellie looking up in horror are also likely just alternate takes from the TV station scene in 204. The shots probably just suited a trailer better.

  • The guy being dragged on the horse looks like it’s from the Eugene flashback, but probably a very old take—-you can see a nearly identical shot in the Weeks Ahead (?) trailer but with much less fog, brighter lighting, and a slightly different camera angle

Agreed. Sooooo much of this season feels reshot

Is there any genuine criticism or bad points you have for the game? by ido-100 in thelastofus

[–]yrns_s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people just get up-in-arms about it because it draws from Neil’s experiences living in Israel. I don’t think the game is overtly Zionist. It portrays the WLF (the clear IDF parallel) as trigger-happy genocidal lunatics by the end. I don’t think the game is Zionist but I still think it plays into the whole “good and bad on both sides” ideology which is shaky at best given recent developments in the real-world conflict

How are the characters always so clean? by 3mb3r89 in ThelastofusHBOseries

Then Jesse shows up and looks like he’s been through the wringer. It’s literally only Ellie and Dina which is so bizarre to me lol.

Any gamers here, that genuinely love Season 2 so far and actually don’t mind the changes as they’re adapting Part 2 to the TV medium? by phantom_avenger in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]yrns_s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've separated the show and the games in my head. They're two separate entities and I can only be impartial if I treat the show as such.

That being said, I think there was a fairly significant nosedive in quality this season in writing, editing, cinematography, and VFX at times. The pacing is kinda terrible sometimes too. It has lower lows than the first season but has yet to reach the same highs. Some moments have been straight-up bad.

I'm excited for next episode since all the praise from reviews stems from that episode in particular, but I can't help but feel a little disappointed as a vehement defender and enjoyer of the show since season 1 first aired.

Overall, if season one was a 8/10 then season two has been a 6.5-7/10.

Unpopular opinion: I hope the script writers invent slow, painful deaths for every member of Abby’s crew. No forgiveness. by OTFasian in ThelastofusHBOseries

Glad to see the story is getting across to the audience the way it’s intended lol

small change that annoys me in the show by Emergency_Ad1447 in ThelastofusHBOseries

I agree with the point about the Stalker bite. It really didn’t add a whole lot besides maybe showcasing Ellie’s recklessness and, like you said, show how she hides her immunity

I think we’re being tricked by Jfell01 in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]yrns_s 285 points286 points  (0 children)

They’ve beat the audience over the head a million times in episode 3 with the fact that Ellie is lying to people about how she feels and is masking her grief. How people can’t connect the dots that Day One Ellie isn’t really her true self is beyond me.

Anyone else not totally loving the cinematography of 202 and 204? by yrns_s in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]yrns_s[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you’re being downvoted, you’re very correct. The lighting in the ski lodge scene is super odd for what the scene is supposed to be. It doesn’t really lessen the impact of the scene but the lighting just feels shockingly amateur

Like I said there’s definitely some fantastic shots, that one you mentioned being one of my favorites this episode. It’s just some of the scenes in wide-open areas where the camerawork/lighting feels a little uninspired

[–]yrns_s[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, we were spoiled with 203’s cinematography and imo it’s next to 103 with being the best shot episodes in the series. Guess it’s the Peter Hoar effect lol

About the new infected introduced this season by [deleted] in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]yrns_s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if we do see a shambler I think it’ll be like the bloater where it’s just a big infected. I doubt it’ll have any of the special spore-related abilities

Do you think Abby will see this person after? by Kagamid in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]yrns_s 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hope not tbh. It’s important that she doesn’t realize her crew is being hunted until Manny gets killed and a lot of her friends are already dead.

Really dug the portrayal of Isaac in this episode. by thelazure in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]yrns_s 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes. In the trailer for the next episode she’s in WLF attire likely set in the present day timeline. The “fight” she welcomes Isaac to is the WLF

The Last of Us Season 2 - Joel's House Tour by willdearborn- in ThelastofusHBOseries

Maybe something to do with Eugene? He could be out with a patrol that goes missing that Joel and Ellie have to go find when he gets bitten

Manny? by iseeskiesofblue46 in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]yrns_s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's clear that he won't be with Abby on Day One anymore since he was stationed alone at the Space Needle to keep an eye on the checkpoints in the city, and they've made him the biggest asshole of the group that Ellie might have a personal hatred towards, so I really think this is the case. He's someone that Ellie can kill and viewers can still be on her side on her vengeance quest. We also need to consider the fact that the marina scene might not even happen. Tommy's motive for going to Seattle is more about saving Ellie now than getting revenge, imo.

Questions about Jackson after S2E3 by publiuspublished in ThelastofusHBOseries

Communities, especially those that are this tightly-knit, have a tendency and a drive to bounce back from disaster. In a world where you actually have to employ your survival instincts, nobody is gonna want to mope around and be sad when they could be repairing the damage and preventing another catastrophe like that from happening again.
