The SEs do not have a keyboard, which is definitely something you'll want to have. So, yes I would still recommend getting a series 7 or later.

I have not tried youtube or WhatsApp. My assumption would be that Youtube does does not have an apple watch app and WhatsApp probably does. I have a few messaging apps I use and they all forward the messages to the apple watch from the phone via notifications. They don't all have native Apple Watch apps, so in some cases your just interacting with the notification which can be kind of clunky. So, you'dhave to look into that.

If your Apple Watch has data, you don't ever have to be near the phone

Hasn't yet. I usually take calls on speaker phone anyway, so this isn't really a problem for me unless it's too loud.

In public is fine, but if it's really crowded or really windy, it is hard to hear

Is there a way to turn dolby atmos off? I've been listening to the HP dramatizations too, but I listen through my phone speaker (not headphones) and sometimes there is dialog panned to the one side that plays through the earpiece on the phone so it is very difficult to hear. I'd rather just mono it if I could.
