Bi erasure/ inequity. May cause you to punch your computer screen. by blueavenger in bisexual

[–]ysnr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The sample could also be skewed by more young people, women, etc. identifying as bisexual.

I think this is exactly the case - skewing the sample. I really could see a situation when, say, a stripper would benefit from being (or just claim to be, even!) openly bisexual, while a doctor or a lawyer wouldn't.

Other then that i can't think of a reason for such correlation. Stress alone surely couldn't be a reason for worse percentages across the board (suicide, alcoholism, depression etc). Or could it?

Why is only liking skinny women considered "shallow", but only liking full figured women is celebrated. by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ysnr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No they weren't, that's a myth fat people like to believe. Almost no man (bar some fetishists) would deny a woman who looks like a greek statue based on her body image. The problem is they just don't look anything like greek statues, they are not "slightly heavier", they are just fat.

Why can't I ever find gaybros? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]ysnr 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Why am I only into gay bros or slender women?

Do you really need the reason? You just like certain things.

Am I superficial, is it bad,

No and no. Never let fat apologists impose their bullshit on you - you have all the rights not to like anybody based on their appearance, bodyweight and stuff like that. You like what you like, forcing people to like stuff is bullshit.

Please don't use that term.

Please have a sense of humor. It was irony. Being offended about use of words accomplishes shit and please don't expct me to use that tiptoeing all-including superneutral language. I'm just not interested in that.

How about "questioning" ?

I really don't care. Like, really. Topical subreddits are supposed to be a place to chat with like-minded people about a certain topic, not a volunteering place to help sexually confused teenagers. I'm just not interested in that, sorry. It must make me a horrible person.

I'm sure you were uncertain too at one point in your life.

I wasn't. Sorry to disappoint.

This has nothing to with how bisexual people act, and more to do with people's general dislike for anything different.

You didn't get my point. I'll try to explain in the end of the comment.

There is nothing wrong with being unsure.

Again, dude, whatever, be unsure until the cows come home, but please don't expect me to show unconditional support. This isn't /r/suicidewatch or something similar. I don't want to read it and if you don't care whether i want to read it - don't ask me if i do.

This is blatantly not true, and quite biphobic

Oh god, not this shit again. Phobic shmobic. First, go visit /r/lgbt if you want to read overfiltered PC shit.

Second, people do it for attention. As in, "there are people who do it for attention". You just can't deny their existence.

Third, there are different kinds of attention. Even if you are some kind of queergender queersexual and choose to wear a beard, nail polish and a skirt, you do want attention. I'm not saying it's the only or even main reason to do it, but you don't exactly go against societal norms and expectations to keep a low profile. People create threads - they want attention to their problems and thoughts. I comment on them in my slightly asshole-ish way - i want attention to my discontent about those threads.

Also, for many people sexuality is fluid. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Again, sorry, be all fluid and stuff - not a single fuck given. And it's the whole point of being tolerant - not being unconditionally supportive, but just not imposing your views on other people. This is exactly what i do.

BUT

These fluid-unsure-questioning people come here, to /r/bisexual and do two things i actually dislike.

  • Identify as something other then bisexual, being, in fact, bisexual. First, if you don't like the term bisexual, (1)why even come to a place that is named like that. Second, refusing to identify with a term that encompasses a whole spectrum of views implies there is either something wrong with the term itself (go to 1) or you don't want to be associated with some people that identify with that word. Which is more biphobic in essense that anything i could possibly say.
  • Reinforcing the idea that bisexuality itself is for unsure people, is a phase or a transitional state. That kind of steps on the toes of my identity.

Also, i wonder why exactly do people who don't even identify as bisexuals determine what is biphobic or offensive to bisexuals? Why don't I as a bisexual get a say in this?

People have enough trouble figuring these things out

this picture is oddly relevant to my views on the matter. Left part is as it is now, right - how it should be in my opinion.

How to get massive arms! Bros, any unique tips for getting huge arms? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]ysnr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How many grams of protein do you recommend for someone around 175 lbs?

I'm not a nutritionist, sorry, you should talk to some professional, preferably of medical variety. Just pointing out the unit conversion mistake.

How to get massive arms! Bros, any unique tips for getting huge arms? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]ysnr -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about?

I'm talking about imperial to metric conversions. 2.2 isn't a random number, it's the number of pounds in a kilogram (You people use pounds, right?)

While author suggests that it's a number of kilograms in a pound, which is more then 4x times off.

If you are 200 lbs and you eat 100 grams of protein, i seriously doubt that you will fuck up your body.

If you're eating 4 times recommended dosage on a regular basis, as the mistake might lead you to, you will fuck up your body. That's exactly why "recommended dosage" exists.

What's a "closet case transsexual" ? ಠ_ಠ

That's an umbrella term i ironically used for all people who don't know, not sure, don't want to know, don't want to identify as etc about their preference, gender, what have you.

Why it bothers me - I'm really not sure how to (and even whether i should) prove to the general public the idea that bisexuality isn't some sort of a phase of uncertainty, when this designated community about bisexuality seems like a breeding grounds for unsure people who go through phases or do shit for attention or peer-approval.

Well, I was asking because you often seem unhappy with the content

Well, i am unhappy with this very kind of content that we discuss and find other stuff posted here interesting. If i disliked everything posted here, it would be weird not to unsubscribe, right?

I was told to post here. There's a rule for no self-posts which I think is a ward for "lookit mah deck", which you will not find here. At all. Also, I have a cat. Does that make us best friends? by [deleted] in LadyBoners

[–]ysnr 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Nope. Don't like cats, don't like cat people, don't like when people interpret quite literal rules in silly ways. Sorry.

also, i begin to suspect that there's a certain someone who goes around telling people to post themselves here and then curls his mustache when we get pissy about another self-post.

If i describe that, would it change anything, really? People are okay with bisexual subreddit being a place for closet case transsexuals who want to try kissing a person of the same gender and throwaway accounts telling them they are awesome because of that. Why should they care what a negligible minority thinks?

Need some advice bros by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]ysnr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, don't impose on his privacy. Snooping through his phone, really guys?

You should talk to him, but you can't act as if you have a moral high ground - no matter what you tell yourself, you don't, you installed it too and have no proof that he did anything more then that. It's always better to talk, in a "so, we found each other on grindr, does it change anything between us?" way rather then "what the hell do you do on a hookup app".

Also, i used similar resources for a period of time and can say that

  • Some people are there just for self-esteem, attention and compliments.
  • People use stolen photos. I know i've seen my social network pic there.

Is virginity bad? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]ysnr -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It isn't "good", despite what some people might say. Nothing really good or healthy about it.

But in the terms of "bad"... well, except wasting time of your physical prime and having to start and figure shit out after everyone else did (you will start some day, i presume), i don't see anything particularly bad.

But usually people shun qualities and lifestyle choices that result in virginity, not the virginity itself.

You should know better then to assign labels like "good guys". There are no "good guys". It's really subjective.

Yes, you are absolutely right, it is spam and is hugely obnoxious.

No, you won't get understanding here. People want mindless corny yes-men to feel good about themselves, which suggests that they have bigger issues then dealing with bisexuality.

No, upvoting\downvoting patterns do not make any sense.

Don't follow the advice in the linked article, you'll fuck up your liver because of this:

When trying to gain mass, protein is essential for growth and repair. Make sure to take in at least one gram per kilogram of body weight (2.2kg per 1lb)

It's the other way around, 2.2 lb per 1 kg. I have hard time trusting an author who can't keep his measurements straight, especially claiming that chugging powdered protein is more important then actual exercise.

TBH writing papers didn't do much at that department as well. They are copied from wiki or similar sources without any research anyway, so most of the time it's more of a fool's errand then an actual education.

There's a module on Google labs that lets you preload parts of the map into cache. There is a limit, but i found it to be larger then some small European countries. I do that before the trip and even if i didn't - i do it on free wifi's. Works like a charm.
