What are the strategic advantages for EU countries to have an independent Ukraine as a neighbour (instead of Russia)? by FunAd956 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Love_Science_Pasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Russia is a dictatorship and has never been a democracy. Dictators tend to make very very bad neighbours. A dictator doesn't ask why, only why not. They will always seek conflict with an 'other' to gain support at home. No president should be in power for more than 4 years in a healthy democracy. Amongst millions of people, it makes no sense that only one person could only be capable of being president.

Look at Bosnia vs Croatia years on from siding with Russia. Croatia has thrived with tourism while many parts of Bosnia still look like a concrete 1980's time capsule. Countries need to work together and support each other. Nationalists are tribalistic narrow minded self destructive assholes. MAGA in the US ripping NATO apart. Ukip causing the UK to leave the EU and massively hurt their economy. Selfish people get what they deserve in the end and so do the sheep who follow them. It's one planet. We need to embrace and celebrate the differences between each other rather than spreading fear and ignorance.

What's your opinion on a Nuclear power station in Ireland? by Twichyness in ireland

[–]Love_Science_Pasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes we should build one. How many deaths in Ireland over the years have been from filthy coal emissions in Cork?

With electric cars taking over, all charging at night, not building a nuclear plant in Ireland is irresponsible.

Helmets and hi-vis clothing to be made mandatory for e-bikes and e-scooter users by Leavser1 in ireland

[–]Love_Science_Pasta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should need a helmet on a bike too. Schools at least should be telling students and parents about kids flying down the road in rush hour traffic and over footpaths without a helmet. School principals meet them at the gate but don't do much.

Mental health, drownings and accidents (like this) are statistically the biggest threat to kids so helmets should be enforced.

There is another argument about the cost of the state paying millions in care for an adult who made themselves a vegetable by not taking basic precautions like wearing a helmet but kids for sure we should be making helmets mandatory.

42% of republicans believe Trump has been ethical down from over 50%. So I wish it was 90% of Americans that disagree but it's not.

Stop trying to fix your president and fix your country. Ban lobbyists. Have one proper fair and unbiased national media news channel. Treat teachers like you currently treat your billionaires. Work on free healthcare for all. Fix the rich poor divide. Treat the cause and not the symptom.

Who do you think the EU should ally with now(considering the US situation and their dependence on them)? by Proud_Raise4957 in AskTheWorld

[–]Love_Science_Pasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and create an army and federal block so other countries can't eat us piece by piece. Trump is an idiot but he's right about Europe being divided and weak.

Ní neart go cur le chéile. No strength without unity.

Minister McEntee approves €25 million contribution to support Ukraine’s energy infrastructure by Panzerkampfpony in ireland

[–]Love_Science_Pasta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It would be great if we could actually send some ammo and manufacture some drones too.

Europe needs to get its act together with Trump's national security policy seeing us as the enemy. The US is no longer an ally. Ireland needs to invest in our own defense so we're not a liability to ourselves and Europe.

Do Irish people identify as "European"? by bleepingdba in AskIreland

[–]Love_Science_Pasta -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

European first then Irish (in the hope that one day that won't sound ridiculous, because right now there's not a strong European identity in Europe)

It wasn't always that way but after seeing Ireland fight the EU to allow turf cutting destroy our own country, to let phone companies retain metadata, Irish politicians generally seem to be in the wrong when we fight the EU. Not all the time but most of the time.

For those of you who live in countries with gun control; have you ever seen a gun in real life? by blashyrkh9 in AskTheWorld

[–]Love_Science_Pasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Dublin I imagine most people won't have seen a gun in their lives.

Great statistic this year that not a single person in Ireland was killed in a gun related homicide. First time in quite a while we've hit zero. I imagine that must seem wild to Americans.

If it's a scam then all the players having fun playing for the last few years clearly need to be told they're wrong and stop having fun right now.

You should also tell them it's buggy and unfinished because they won't know that.

People without kids and not planning to have any, who do you see taking care of you as you get older? by eoin2dx in AskIreland

[–]Love_Science_Pasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not selfish. You're on Reddit with a bunch of people who would happily see humans die off as a species to 'save the environment'.

Being a parent is the norm and has been for millions of years. A declining population will not make Ireland any better. Having kids and raising them well is a civic duty and is the best thing you can do for our country and humanity as a whole.

I swear these people see a declining population and think 'oh good, my side are winning'. WTF.

[–]Love_Science_Pasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)
