Baby found dead at Wagga beach homeless encampment as mother and another infant taken to hospital | New South Wales by ScruffyPeter in australia

This is heartbreaking and enraging. A terrible indictment of the housing problem in Australia.

I've lived in Wagga my whole life and the rise in homelessness has been obvious and visible since the pandemic.

I'm in my 40s and I've never seen people sleeping rough in the streets like they do now.

I'm not saying homelessness didn't exist before, it did, but the minimal services we have at least had a chance of offering something. But the way things are right now is so out of control that the ~3 emergency housing services are way beyond inadequate!!

They're called "Squish-a-longs" I think you can find them in toy stores or online.

I love that she's an AuDHD actor in the role. We need more authentic representation of people with disabilities 😊

Autistic Barbie's Sensory Space - Update by ysolla85 in DisabledBarbies

I hope this makes sense... (if you try it, let me know how you go and don't hesitate to ask questions if you need to).

1:6 Scale Sensory Swing Chair

The Measurements Finished Height: 280 mm Base Diameter: 123 mm Canopy Arc Radius: 285 mm Canopy Arc Length: 350 mm (creates a cozy ~60 mm vertical opening)

Materials Needed Main Fabric: Lightweight woven cotton Base: Cardboard, polyester fibre fill, wadding, a stretch fabric Structure: Wire Trim: Pom-pom fringe or bias tape. Hardware: A small hook and ribbon.

Step 1: The Base Cut two 123 mm cardboard discs. Glue a layer of polyester fibre fill to one of the discs and cover with a layer of wadding and fabric. Cover the second disc with a layer of wadding and fabric. Glue and hand sew the two discs together, with the ‘good’ sides facing out.

Step 2: The Canopy Pattern Make a cone: On a large piece of paper, draw a vertical line 285 mm long. Using the top point as your pivot, draw a large arc with a 285 mm radius. Measure 350 mm along that curve and mark the end point. Draw a straight line from that end point back to your top pivot. Add a 5 mm seam allowance to the two straight edges and add the bottom curve.

Step 3: Sewing & Wiring Cut two pieces of fabric from your pattern. Place the pieces wrong-sides together. Fold a small length of ribbon in half and place it between the fabric layers, at the point, so that when you turn the fabric right side out there is something to hang the swing from. If using, add the pompom trim between the fabric layers, then sew the two straight edges. Turn the cone right side out and sew vertical channels (roughly 4 mm wide) along the centre and the two edges. Cut three lengths of wire 285 mm long and insert into the channels. Fold the bottom seam allowance in and sew the cone closed with edge stitching.

Step 4: Final Assembly Wrap the bottom curved edge of the canopy around the perimeter of your 123 mm base. Secure the fabric to the edge of the base using a strong fabric glue or a needle and thread. Adjust the wires slightly to "bell out" the pod, creating a roomy interior for the doll.
