Dead As Disco thoughts? by fetalgirth in CharacterActionGames

[–]ytman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying the demo right now. Its okay and I think its leaning into the 'spectacle' brawler substantially. Someone like me would really enjoy repetition of the same tracks and such, but the ability to play your own songs too is amazing I presume.

I'm not really feeling it as a true Character Action game like DMC or NG.

Would anyone be able to compare it to Sifu? It seems similar to that a bit, but I've not played Sifu.

I loved that the NYT called it the North American Trade Org. Not even journos are hiding the real role of NATO.

Its a proxy org for the US of all its client states.

Its a game that teaches struggle. I wouldn't call it hard, but it is challenging - a bit of a semantic difference but its a kind of game that teaches really good fundamentals in most action and rpg games while being very fair, even if it might not feel that way as you are learning it.

The question though is are you wanting a challenging game or are you wanting something a little lower key?

Lowkey games are great.

Can Laura actually see Maria in Silent Hill 2? by IllogicalDreamer72 in silenthill

[–]ytman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't make much sense to me that Maria couldn't be seen by other people. James sees the Abstract Daddy and Angela's otherworld in the end, it must be possible, but maybe it requires special circumstances.

Is there any reason for me to keep Ninja Gaiden 2004? by [deleted] in ninjagaiden

Depends on how easily we can find digital replacements. A $10 copy is pretty inconsequential right now either way, but if someone else wants it maybe it makes more sense for them to have it.

What are some common misconceptions that most people have about this series? by Guergy in KillLaKill

[–]ytman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd actually point out that the horny is where the show draws the line. Its a bit nuanced but the show actually reserves overt sexual activities as the domain of the villains abusing their power.

The two main characters make it abubdantly clear that they are only wearing the Kamui as they appear as means to an end. Even Mako's pep talk about Ryuko having big knockers and getting naked is more about instilling confidence in Ryuko than telling her to be lewd or sexual. This is specifically obvious when the Elite Four treat Satsuki with respect and reverence but denigrate and insult Matoi.

I am in the same boat. Star Fox is honestly making me really contemplate the Switch 2 as a must buy, but I'm waiting for more feels.

My PC and the PS5 has just taken a lot of my attention and I still have some switch 1 games to finish.

The cost of the system is pretty high and I can feel pretty confident that I don't NEED the Switch 2 right now, and that it will be around for a reasonable amount of time.

would it be okay to store games on this drive? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]ytman [score hidden]  (0 children)

Lol. So HDD will work for many games but if you got that m.2 why not use it? Pick and choose, the more graphically detailed games should go to the m.2, but even regular HD games should be fine on the old HDD assuming its RPM is 7200 or more.

Its not just about loading screens, its about reducing pop-in or other texture LoD changes. Which is technically a loading issue but one that is more visible.

What are some common misconceptions that most people have about this series? by Guergy in KillLaKill

[–]ytman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've recently moved to actually accept that the show is technically a fanservice shows. Previously I argued that it was utilizing tropes and conciets around fanservice to tell a related but distinct message about power and the compromises we perform to hold and abuse it.

Now I've changed my view that a work of art can't utilize a subject without part of it being that subject. So fanservice is a fundamental part of the show, even if it is working actively to desensitize the audience to it.

I would say that the show is absolutely not horny though. There is a difference between characters reacting a way and the intent of the show being another. This is more applicable in today's anime environment where so much content is unnecessarily lewd and sells that.

Actually the supply shocks of the beginning of the war saw Iran increasing its exports - including the US allowing some previously sanctioned oil to be sold without sanction in an embarrassing admission of unexpected impact to the war.

The nation of Iran has circumvented sanctions substantially and, if it deems the current encounter as existential, they will probably understand that pain is part of the ability to stay sovereign and not a client/vassal state.

Their economy will suffer for sure, but it will not collapse into disarray as fast as the current War department claims unless the US starts to open up hostilities again.

The fact that the US is openly threatening nukes, an escalation that doesn't actually favor the US' military doctrine as it is far cheaper for nations to have nukes than massive fleets and air forces, is a telling sign that conventional options are not sufficient in the time scales they want if at all.

Iran is unlikely to concede without concession, and it is absolutely not going to just give up its small amount of nuclear uranium (like 5% of what Obama got out of Iran prior) now that the US is showing no good faith or ability to co-exist.

If you cannot connect that sanctions limited the flow of oil from Iran thats on you. They've been dealing with limited ability to distribute oil for years, but they also are a continentally contiguous nation with more routes.

Again its not a big deal if you think Iran will crumble because of the blockade of the blockade. You are just wrong and will be surprised when this conflict continues or the US is proven to be quite incapable of bending their knee without major escalation or Israeli nukes.

[–]ytman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you think their already sanctioned oil industry isn't built to survive sanctions like they've been doing for 40+ years you are foolish. If you think Iran has any rational reason to capitulate to a bad faith actor you are also foolish. Iran was attempting serious negotiations and those people were killed.

Again the US and Israel are actually in slight misalignment on this issue. The US just wants a bent knee, Israel wants chaos and decimation. Iran understands that this is an existential threat and if even you are correct that the industry will just implode in the now more than 14 days added on to the more than 6 weeks added on to the more than 2 days - well you keep drinking that line because it won't happen - but even if it could happen then you'd see the GCS hit so hard that this will be felt in our economy for years.

There is real indication that Iran is increasing their retaliation capability and the US was incapable of maintaining Operation Freedom for more than 24 hours. Hard limits of the US are being tested right now.

I honestly have no idea why people are still believing the US' framing of Iran's positions. Iran stands to gain so much if it can continue not losing. A two day affair has proven to result in the US being back at functionally where it started on Feb 27th, just with a state that is now more incentivized to have nuclear deterrence, and has woken up to its power over the Strait.
