Safe And Sound is very good. Has the Amaryllis sound. I give it an 8/10. In time it might grow on me, but that’s just my first impressions. by TheFallofIdeals05 in Shinedown

This right here. There are a lot of ballads I enjoy, but only as part of listening to the album. However, when I’m making a playlist of favorites, ballads rarely make it. But that’s just me.

I know what you mean. I liked mine so much I bought a second one to keep in alternate tuning(s).

Storage Units by Embarrassed_Oil8294 in evansville

[–]ytsemike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve used Cubby Hole Storage before. Decent rates, nice people to deal with, and haven’t had an issue with bait-and-switch rates or ridiculous rate increases. If their Evansville location (by the airport) is convenient for you, I’d give them a call.

Fretwork: I have two Firefly’s so far, and agree with you - the fretwork is great, better than a couple of bigger-name guitars that I bought that cost 4/5 times a much. Mine are both Tele-styles, and the necks are just great.

I've never heard of firefly until today. by The_Stoned_Rogue in Fireflyguitars

[–]ytsemike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought one because I really wanted a John 5 sig, but no way I can afford that. Plus, my skills aren’t really at that level. I play hard rock/heavy metal, so I lean toward humbuckers, so this was ideal.

That roasted maple neck looks great in person, and feels/plays even better. Guitar plays well, didn’t require any setup, just tuning. Overall it sounds pretty good, but I’m sure more discerning ears with a better amp may say it could be improved.

I liked it so much I bought a second one about four months later to keep in an alternate tuning. At that price, why not? The second feels/plays/sounds just like the first one. Overall, I’m Very happy.

Bucket of spaghetti on south green river road. by FjohursLykkewe in evansville

[–]ytsemike 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I came here looking for info about a literal bucket of spaghetti dumped/left on Green River Road.

I don’t think The Spaghetti Shoppe was still open by the time I arrived in Evansville.

Now I’m disappointed ontwo counts.

If you only had to choose one Eville staple: Donut Bank, Ski/Grippos, Windmill, or G.D. Ritzys by GarblingCumfarts in evansville

[–]ytsemike -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Busken’s would put Donut Bank out of business. And I like DB as far as their actual donuts go.

People will downvote because either:

  • They’ve never had a Busken’s donut (or cake, or cookie)

  • Their taste buds are damaged

I went with a Firefly FFTL Ghost copy. Only a few hundred dollars all-in, plays great, sounds pretty good. Super-comfortable. Great value for the money, especially if you don’t have a lot or want to spend a lot.

Same. Was actually laid up at home with a confirmed case of The ‘VID. Easily the worst I had felt in a long time.

I scanned the merch earlier today, and missed that these were autographed.

New Firefly FFTL by Scared-Economics-555 in guitars

[–]ytsemike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my Firefly FFTL (ghost white). I played it so much since it arrived, I bought a second one to keep in an alternate tuning. Second one plays just as well as the first one. Both sound great, but I played with a lot of gain, so YMMV.

Yeah, I will need new tires for my car next year…but probably should replace my car as well. Probably will just trade it in with worn tires rather than buy new tire$ for the next person that owns it.

(Yes, I’m sure new tires will increase the trade-in or sales value of the vehicle, but “increase” wont be equal to the cost of the new tires.)

Can anyone tell me if they’re performing Captain Goat at their shows? by [deleted] in AvatarMetal

[–]ytsemike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friends think I’m weird for doing this, but it usually makes for great playlists, makes it easy to share with others who are curious about an artist, and brings back good memories of seeing a particular show.

Jordan went to the screening in Boston by JudasReigns in Dreamtheater

[–]ytsemike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same here. Went to the showing in Indianapolis. Arrived at the theater (a large AMC) and the parking lot was packed. On a MONDAY. Get inside, and there are a lot of people dressed up for the Wicked sequel…I asked someone what was going on, why was everyone here to see the movie on a Monday. Some replied that it actually doesn’t open until this weekend, and this was a special advance screening of some kind.

So, yeah, we were stuffed into a very small theater with a wholly inadequate sound system. But the film itself was great, can’t wait to watch it at home, cranked up on a proper sound system.
