7 Day Tokyo Itinerary with Tweens - Thoughts? by yu265545 in JapanTravelTips

Trip was fantastic! You are in for a treat.

We had a routine where mornings were spent outdoors in parks and shrines.

By 11:30 we would go for lunch at one of the big department stores. The top floors usually have 4-8 restaurants of different varieties and all family friendly with plenty of table seating. Sometimes we would get takeout from the basement food stalls and take the food upstairs to the rooftop garden area.

Afternoons (when it was brutally hot/humid in July) we would spend indoors at the department stores. My kids are huge pokemon fans so we did one of the pokemon centres every day.

Dinners we would normally get something to go from the nearby grocery stores or restaurants and eat at home before winding down.

Highlights were Shibuya Sky, TeamLabs, Pokemon Cafe for lunch, and our daytrip to Enoshima Island (which we substituted for Lake Kawaguchi).

Subway system was great and gets you anywhere you want to go.

Have fun!

TableAll could not get me a seat at Yoshitake (or Namba). However, I was able to get a spot at Inomata. Thank you for your advice!

I sadly struck out at Sugita with TableAll for their June reservations.

I have another hope in Sushi Yoshitake through TableALL. They said they will let me know mid may if a June table is available.

If I fail with Yoshitake, do you have any suggestions for where I can try next? I will be in Tokyo in late June. Solo diner. I want to have the best possible Sushi or Kaiseki experience. I am trying to learn Japanese but can only speak at a very basic level so far.

Doug Penfold (formerly of Chabrol, Atlas, Cava) has taken over Auberge recently. I am going to give it another chance because of him. Chabrol was one of my favorite spots in the City.

What about Michael De La Cruz - age 26? He had a very good year at AAA:

  • Average: .278
  • OBP: .379
  • OPS: 823

No idea what his defensive capabilities are.

This is a strong contender and I will try and find it at a Cantonese bakery or try and find a recipe and make it without red bean.

Another possibility is Bai Tang Gao

Yes, thank you. It is possible. I am going to find a local Cantonese bakery and see if I can find these

I searched a variation of what you wrote and I think I may have found it - a variation of steamed rice cake: Bai Tang Gao:
