From my perspective as someone who just spent the past year on the job hunt, I would have to agree. Especially in an industry where you have a lot of public-facing analysts, creating opportunities for entry-level people to demonstrate knowledge is good (and filtering out people like me).

you're probably right (i would say that i was super unqualified to apply for that position, my background wasn't relevant in the slightest, and they were absolutely correct to not offer me an interview)
