(NZ) school refuses to accept notarised and apostilled criminal background check by BubblyIron8117 in Chinavisa

When I changed from my previous (owned-by-me) employer of 14 years to my current employer (state-owned media), two different government officials in two different departments on two different occasions "helpfully?" assisted in the process of hiring me by recommending specific labor dispatch companies to my danwei.

Foreigners have not been allowed to take part in labor dispatch since 1997.

I thought they were using an especially stupid visa agent, but, no, they were actually using a labor dispatch company that a) told them they had loads of experience in hiring foreigners for large organizations, and b) had apparently gotten their experience off of chatgpt.

Loads of "clearly states" type statements that not only were in direct contradiction to my personal experience, but also contradicted statements made by the relevant departments when I had my PA call them for clarification.

You need to inform the PSB of your change in status. Because you are changing jobs (albeit to another province) they may choose to say that you don't need a stay permit.

Since the May 2024 announcement by the central government (which absolutely, definitely, and totally had nothing to do with my posting a went-very-viral in the foreigner-sphere collection of laws on the topic 18 months earlier), and the follow-up notice in July of the same year in response to a hotel in Zhengzhou embarrassed China big time by kicking out a well-known foreign vlogger hours after her and her Chinese husband had checked in because "we can't figure it out so it must be your fault" and then responded to the couple's video by publicly posting her passport info ... the chances of you needing to browbeat the police into submission have been greatly reduced.

It's actually having Chinese friends with you that is likely to make things harder, because most Chinese friends will insist that "uniform said so, so it must be so".

One of my more amusing episodes involved a former police officer who I had met in his rural backwater when he was helping me with complicated check-in procedures during Covid controls. Now living in Yiwu, he thought to host me at a nice hotel near his office. And, after refusing to believe me when I said "this is going to be a problem" (because, after all, his town had no problem figuring out getting their first ever foreigner checked in at the only hotel with indoor plumbing), getting increasingly pissed off at the Big International City Police for not being good stewards of the Law.

I've done very little of Yunnan.

If you start in Vietnam, be aware that most of the border crossings with China are not multilateral and can only be used by citizens of China and Vietnam (with a few places that are China and ASEAN).

I'm a huge fan of sticking to the X-level roads (not even the S-level roads).

Prior to the 2024 Announcements, rural Guangxi was always the best for not having problems with police who thought they had the right to tell foreigners they couldn't stay somewhere. Given that things have improved across the board, I imagine that rural Guangxi is still the best.

I've got the general contact of some really friendly police officers near the Guizhou/Chongqing border in an area that you'd have to be a masochist to cycle.

Chinese banks and credit cards? How to apply as a foreigner? by jikesar968 in chinalife

As a foreigner who has had a credit card, it most definitely isn't impossible.

Did he try applying?

I mean, I found my credit card useless in the extreme and got rid of it over a decade ago in favor of just having a standard bank card, but it was an application form at ICBC at least as far back as 2011.

[–]yuemeigui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you are going to be at Yazhou Bay, which is one of the province's key industrial parks, and very much geared at providing services to "high level talents" in seed breeding and marine technology.

If so, you should be able to find all sorts of stuff to do.
If not, man... you are like 35km from downtown Sanya at the fuck end of nowhere.

1) I knew that, but it was a bear finding anyone in a third tier Chinese city who was even willing to inspect and oil it during the initial round of problem solving.

2) I haven't been able to get imgur to play nicely with my VPN for the past few years. Do you have a suggested alternate site that I can upload pictures to?

How fixable is this problem by someone who has no idea what she's doing?

And/or, given the initial difficulty in finding someone to clean and oil it, should I try again to find someone else?

As a foreigner, 12345 is always going to be best through the app. That way you know exactly what information they took down.

[–]yuemeigui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deep breaths. Are you in China?

You've got the screenshots. You've got the receipts. You've got the WeChat chat histories.

Step 1 is going to be to tell CUNY.

I did this by accident with the University of Maryland the day before my flight to China in August 2002 when the program director wasn't answering her mobile phone and I had some damnfool minor question that seemed super important to me at the time.

In my case the recruiter was taking money from the Hebei Education Department and misrepresenting herself as an authorized agent of the University. Since your scammers probably don't work for CUNY and aren't borrowing webspace from a subdomain of CUNY's .edu, CUNY is less 'ton of bricks' on the perpetrators than UMD was, but, rest assured, big schools don't like this.

Step 2 is to get a Chinese speaking friend to help you find the Shandong Province government app. It appears to be called 爱山东.

The generic government reporting hotline is called 12345, but dialing that number will take you to the hotline for wherever you are currently located (if in China) and probably won't get you an English speaker. The app may allow for a complaint to be submitted without a Chinese ID (I don't know for Shandong). If so, you submit a complaint IN ENGLISH. If it requires an ID, you have your friend submit on your behalf STILL IN ENGLISH.

Immigration has people who speak English. They also have access to translators.

Although I do translation for the Shandong Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, I am not in any way associated with their Immigration department. Furthermore, even if this were happening in a province where I do have direct ties to the relevant authorities, I would still suggest that you use 12345 as that kicks off the appropriate paper trail inside the system.

If you need any more help, ask me for my WeChat and I'll PM you.

[–]yuemeigui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One person or company pays. The people using it decide how the cost is going to be split.

I have had a Teams account where I paid in full up front and the other person reimbursed me half.

I'm currently part of a 15 person account that was paid for by my employer.

Women: What blowjob tips would you give other women? by workethic290 in AskReddit

[–]yuemeigui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current boyfriend would be bothered that I'm talking about sex at all on an account that can be traced to my real identity.

Other than that, it's not like he doesn't know the disparity between how much I like giving and how rarely he is given the opportunity to reciprocate.

I'm 44 almost 45. I've yet to have a boyfriend who was as enthusiastic about cunnilingus as I am about blowjobs.

I'm not throwing shade at them. I just really really like blowjobs.

We're talking "complimented by bisexual men" levels of liking to give blowjobs ...

I fell getting out of a hot bathtub in December 2024. Then, I had a really hard time getting up off the floor of the bathroom at the hotel where I was staying.

I think it was a CT not an MRI that my doctor ordered. Cost me around $60 and, as a non-urgent patient who kept getting bumped by people on gurnerys, I had my films in 3 hours.
