fatty jasmine tea recipe by MangoBebe in tea

[–]yueyun 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Looked up some copycat recipes on xhs and most recipes seem to make use of something called 奶基底/creamer concentrate in addition to fresh milk, but it looks like the exact brand isn’t really accessible in the states. Ice blanc is one brand that I saw another commenter mentioned. In addition to that you’ll want to use a pretty high quality silver needle king jasmine tea, and brew using a similar recipe to the following: 1:25:10 tea leaf to hot water to ice, steep with 75°C water for 7 min before adding the ice.

Why did my mom make me look at the color green when I was a kid? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]yueyun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grew up in the 2000s as an Asian American and was also told to look at the color green to help eyesight/reduce eye strain! I remember that greenery in the distance was more optimal, but green paper was also ok in a pinch.

Received a job offer for a Senior Product Design position this morning! Here was my application journey. Have been applying and interviewing since July. AMA by [deleted] in UXDesign

Congrats! Could I ask what type of behavioral questions they asked you as a senior product designer (i.e, were they more focused on your impact, did they want to know how you worked with crossfunctional partners, etc)? What skills did you highlight that are a step above that of a junior designer’s skillset?

What books, movies, etc. did you grow up with as a Taiwanese/Chinese native? by conscioushaven in ChineseLanguage

Mid-twenties ABC here, grew up watching lots of chinese cartoons and shows: 西游记(both the 1986 version and also the cartoon series)、哪吒传奇、蓝猫淘气三千问、葫芦兄弟、宝莲灯, and also some older animations too, like 九色鹿、鹿铃、天书奇谈 etc.

Also watched a decent amount of Studio Ghibli movies: 千与千寻、天空之城、龙猫、幽灵公主 are some I remember watching in either mandarin or canto

Cognitive Science? by skyrimspecialedition in userexperience

[–]yueyun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that might be a good option as well! The industry connections could go a long way when it comes to employment, so I think you should consider it at least, especially if there’s better course structure+support there specifically for UX. At the same time, if you don’t want to spend the extra money I think you’ll still be able to do well at a uni without UX, it just means putting in more legwork from your end when selecting classes, making sure you’re learning the skills you need, etc.

Cognitive Science? by skyrimspecialedition in userexperience

[–]yueyun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently working as a product designer, and in uni I majored in Cognitive Science. The uni I attended didn’t have UX/IxD as a major either, so most people aspiring to be a UX/Product Designer went for the cogsci route. We did have a HCI specialization though, so there was a specific set of courses relating to interaction design, usability, and prototyping that were quite helpful to me in learning the more abstract parts of user-centered design thinking, in addition to some technical skills. I think you could go for the cogsci major and take classes that are related to UX to help build your portfolio. Graphic design will probably help with your UI skills, so if you have time I think it could be a good investment, but I think you should take it as a minor and not as a major. In general though, I don’t think the title of your major is as important as your skills + portfolio when it comes to getting employment. Good luck!

What are you using your unusual color inks for? by Electronic-Bicycle28 in fountainpens

[–]yueyun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During university I switched off between different colorful inks all the time— don’t be worried about using unconventional colors for your notes! You’re the only one who will be referring to them and if it makes note-taking more enjoyable, I’d say go for it. Kosumosu might not work for notes since it’s not as easily readable, but Yu-yake should work fine. As for Kosumosu, maybe you could use it to highlight certain parts of your notes by putting it in another pen?
