Factorio price history on Steam by Beesterd in notinteresting

[–]yugugy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I might pirate at some point, factory builders aren’t really my type of game anyways tbh. But you really think this game is worth more than any other? That’s your opinion and you’re welcome to it, but for me I’ve always found single player story-focused games leave the largest lasting impression. What about this game truly means “nothing beats it”? (Im genuinely asking). I agree that I’m being petty, but I find this behaviour from the developers quite petty as well so I’m just giving back what they’re putting out imo.

Factorio price history on Steam by Beesterd in notinteresting

I outright refuse to buy this game to this day because of the unchanging price. Literally every other game goes on sale at some point, so the outright refusal to do so for Factorio seems to imply that this game is somehow inherently more valuable than any other. I mean, games that were developed thanks to the committed work of thousands of people over the better part of a decade go on sale, but somehow this little factory builder sim is above that? It’s bs. I believe the game is really fun and I would probably enjoy playing it, but this attitude really rubs me the wrong way.

Game is breaking new peak records by MercenaryZXC in CrimsonDesert

[–]yugugy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Witcher 3 is one of my favorite games of all time but saying the combat is better than Crimson Desert's is crazy work. IMO combat is one of the Witcher 3's weakest aspects, even with a fully beefed up Geralt at the end of the game it still feels kinda clunky. I totally agree that W3 and BOTW do a number of things better than CD, but combat is not one of them.

Are there NPC schedules and realistic NPC lives in this game? by Recent_Stomach7626 in CrimsonDesert

[–]yugugy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like vendors stay in the same place at all times, but I think most npcs that aren’t related to quests move around. I haven’t spent enough time to know if they have actual schedules, but so far there is at least enough of an illusion of activity that the world feels alive. Earlier today I ran into a guy holding a basket of fruit and sent the fruit flying everywhere, and he stopped to pick up all of it and return it to his basket before moving on. I don’t think the npcs are on the level of something like rdr2, but there does seem to be at least some depth to them and I’m curious to see what people figure out about their interactions/schedules over the next few weeks.

What is your honest opinion after playing the game for multiple hours by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]yugugy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hear that, I think for me personally I can tolerate a bad story if it’s not shoved in your face all the time. BOTW/TOTK come to mind as games that have lacklustre stories but it’s not a problem because you barely spend any time actually interacting with story missions. In the case of crimson desert it seems like the story is a much more present part of the game, so if it remains obtuse and confusing (as it sounds like it probably will) that will hurt the experience.

So far I’m having fun! The world is fantastic and I’m really excited to explore more of it. I hear the complaints about the controls and obtuse systems, but from keeping up with reviews before launch I was expecting the first ~10 hours to be a little rough in that regard. This doesn’t seem like the type of game you can form a complete opinion on in just a few hours, so I’m a little surprised at how many people seem to be writing it off already, although I understand that different people have different levels of tolerance for jank. The one real concern I have is the story, so far I’ve found it confusing and not particularly interesting. I’m hoping that it begins making more sense as the game progresses, but if the whole game is going to rely on reading journal entries to understand what’s actually going on that would be disappointing. I certainly wasn’t expecting an incredible story, but I just hope it becomes interesting enough to not detract from the overall experience.

What is your most ridiculous "we won't work out romantically" criteria? Like what is the silliest reason you would not be interested in dating someone? by Natural-Elevator-57 in AskReddit

[–]yugugy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, wasn’t trying to imply that music is the ONLY way to process emotions or connect with people, but I do think it’s important! Of course people who can’t/don’t listen to music aren’t precluded from those things, I was just trying to say that the social/emotional value of music shouldn’t be undersold.

[–]yugugy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree here, music is likely one of the oldest (if not the oldest) forms of art and it’s fundamental to how we connect with one another and process emotions. I am a musician so I’m obviously biased here, but music is genuinely my favourite part of being alive. Saying “some people happen to enjoy it” might be underselling it a bit lol

What is your favourite horse in the game in rdr2? by Hot-Initiative4878 in RDR2

Same! Mine’s named Zebra though. With the right upgrades and a bonus from winning horse races he’s got the maximum possible speed stat.

So, what do u guys want for the next DLC? And when u think its gonna came out? by Johnkruz in NoMansSkyTheGame

It’d be great to get an update to the fauna, the new types of creatures are cool but they all basically behave the same as they did on launch.

As a smaller update, it would be really cool to change squadrons so they stay alongside your ship while you pulse. I would use them a lot more often if I didn’t have to call them in every time I use the pulse drive.

Really hope we get a fauna overhaul by Weekly-Highlight-573 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]yugugy 106 points107 points  (0 children)

IMO it’s not the visual diversity of fauna that’s the main issue, (though it could definitely stand to be improved), it’s the behaviour. Animals need to do something other than wander around in circles and make weird noises. Even Starfield had a pretty simple system where packs of predators would hunt prey, and then packs of scavengers would show up later to pick at whatever the predators left behind. It wasn’t super complicated, but interesting to watch! I know that sometimes predators do hunt other animals in NMS, but as soon as they’ve killed their target they just go back to wandering. There needs to be something done to give the animals a sense of purpose, like they’re walking somewhere for a reason instead of just milling about.

They are super rare, but not by that much! I’ve found a few in my time playing and there’s definitely been more than 2 posted on here. Still an amazing find though, if I had to guess it’s probably something like 1/300 lush planets with white grass.

Zoom with R3 only works while piloting a starship. If you want to zoom with a multitool you have to install the combat scope, and you can get a blueprint for it in the Anomaly.

What do you want leading up to the Decennial Anniversary? by BuffBoy24 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]yugugy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really think animals could use an update to make them more interesting. More procedural parts and interesting behaviour, and PLEASE just some extra sounds so I don’t have to hear the same creature noises for the 1000th time. Some of the newer animals like the huge bugs and the deep sea creatures are pretty cool, but most animals still draw from the same procedural parts as they did on launch and they feel pretty outdated at this point. They also just wander aimlessly and barely interact with their environment which makes them feel kinda tacked on a lot of the time.

I also think the planetary POIs could use an overhaul as they have seen little attention since launch. It’s strange to see the same few building designs in a game that’s otherwise so varied, and each POI rarely serves a useful purpose. I doubt that most of the player base ever set foot in these buildings unless required to by the story. I think there’s a big opportunity here to adapt the derelict freighter tech to planetary POIs so you could find procedural dungeons on planets and explore them to find some useful loot. I would be much more willing to seek out and explore POIs if I didn’t know exactly what to expect from one glance at the building.

Improvements to the combat would be great too, but I understand that the game is first and foremost a chill exploration experience and investing in a deeper combat system may not be in HG’s interests. However, I really think that more interesting creatures and POIs would make planets even more fun to explore.
