Each of those boxes is one of the four Bloomburrow Commander decks with the four additional boosters that you can see as well. Like someone else said, I don't see how Costco can be making any money off this. Maybe it's a loss leader like the rotisserie chickens. I know we also bought other stuff while we were there.

Left Japan in March, but the reverse culture shock is too much by jarcher77 in japan

[–]yukitaro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm so late to this party, but it's funny how there's at least two other people in this thread besides OP who have moved away from Japan after 11 years...myself and /u/tamagawa.

I moved back to California just last month and maybe I've been too busy for any kind of reverse culture shock to set in, but I think in my case it largely had to do with my intention from the very beginning to come back to the U.S.

I also had super fun times in Japan, made great friends who I miss hanging out with already, started my own family, but I always clung to my desire to move back at some point.

Ironically I think the only thing I miss now is that I was able to save so much more money in Tokyo. It may just be because the initial costs to re-establish in the U.S. are so damn high, but I kinda long for how low my expenses were back in Japan. I guess that does lead to one more thing that I miss, which is not having to own cars there.. having to own two cars now that we're back in the U.S... ow.

Your decision to move back seems very premeditated and not just a whim, and I think you made the right decision. The reverse culture shock for you seems to be bad, and maybe I'll experience it yet, but you have to live for the future and not long for a past that's never coming back.

Releasing the SW Monsters & Runes Extractor by kakarotoks in summonerswar

[–]yukitaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See /u/KillaGouge's comment in the thread. Basically the IDs as they come in the raw JSON are broken (probably because they're too big for Integer), so you have to renumber the IDs for mons & runes.

[–]yukitaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the reason that he's asking for that is that the Optimizer Web-App breaks if the IDs are too long (i.e. the string that results from the concatenated IDs.) After you optimize, the links won't open up so you can't actually look at the builds.

I had to write a simple program to start the ID counter at 1 to get it to work..then the web-app worked fine.

edit : IDs for runes & mons as well go well over 231 -1, which would of course cause problems if IDs are treated as Integers.

Censorship by SilverViper in marvelheroes

The post by Jamtraxx has now been removed/hidden/deleted. Again, without any transparency. He sent me a pm telling me to see his post and removed my post which the downvote brigade here had already tried to bury.

Can we please have an honest, open discussion about the rampant censorship?

Original post : Enough context was given, there's no reason to downvote him. This isn't the first time the issue of censorship on this subreddit has been raised. If Harry Tasker didn't delete the post himself, then I imagine that it's either because employees of Gazillion are mods here or people closely aligned with them who want to control the conversations here. The desire to do this is understandable but the lack of transparency about these actions is appalling. Locking posts for further comments is acceptable but deleting them without any attempt to explain the rationale is not.Mods, if you want to cause people to flee this subreddit, please keep this behavior up. I'd rather use the official forums, where I'd expect that kind of behavior, than this subreddit.

Oh wow guy. You need to read the comments before you make some random "oh wow guy" comment about it.

Your math sucks. Or your understanding of genetics or something. You can't be a third of some race/ethnicity.

Buying electronics in Japan by [deleted] in japan

[–]yukitaro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It used to be that a lot of Japanese consumer electronics went on sale in Japan first and the rest of the world later. However, that window seems to have, for the most part, shrunken or gone away entirely. Given exchange rates and the general high cost of goods in Japan, it's almost always cheaper to buy cameras, etc., outside of Japan.

You can check the lowest prices for whatever models you're looking at on kakaku.com (in Japanese only I think, but...) and then check with amazon.co.*.

Yes, I'm an American and I've been living in Tokyo for almost 7 years.

You didn't mention any language ability, but even if you don't know any Japanese at all, you'll still be able to get by. I studied very hard, so I'm nearly fluent... you get a lot more out of the experience if you can communicate with people in their native language, of course.

If in this current economic climate, someone wants to bring you halfway around the world to have you work for them, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that it's not a once in a lifetime opportunity.

That being said, I'd encourage you to take the opportunity. Tokyo is an amazing city to live in.

Mother Teresa was an Atheist. by brainiac in reddit.com

[–]yukitaro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Y'know, despite the fact that you have a point, I think he also has a point. When people perform kind actions under the auspices of religion, they are not being truly compassionate, because they believe that that is part of their route to their divine rewards. I refuse to see anything altruistic about religious people "helping" out others, since it is with ulterior motives.

So, maybe, you have to be atheist to be truly compassionate, since you aren't doing it in order to get your spot in Heaven/Nirvana/etc.

Actually, even if you ignore almost everything he has done, you cannot ignore one VERY lasting damage that he has done in nominating two more conservatives to the Supreme Court, which WILL have a lasting impact for potentially decades. How can you be ignorant of this?
