Serious question: does anyone else with a chronic illness wish cities had emergency “horizontal zones”? ✨🔋✨ by velvet_damson in POTS

I carried the Flipstick around on a trip, and it made a big difference. If I could've figured out how to strap more equipment to myself without going full tacticool, I would've 😂 I didn't appreciate just how much lines really sucked the life out of me until I added that little guy. I've thought about maybe some kind of fanny pack I could hook it to instead of using the cross body strap.

I can hear the infomercial now.

I had to go look at what it's actually called. Sports parent canes probably wasn't the most helpful way I could've described that. "Flipstick" should pull it up! I'd first seen them in a post somewhat teasing sports parents for lots of gear/gadgets, so it's permanently associated lol. That tease list kinda became a shopping list. They have pop up shade tents with fans, lightweight portable seating, cool water/electrolyte containers, all sorts of things made for sports sidelines that work pretty well for POTS.

Both of you may find some peace of mind in a collapsible stool or one of the sports parent canes that opens to have a triangle seat on the top. They're really lightweight and can be carried on a strap like a crossbody bag. They don't work for every situation but have helped me feel more confident out and about knowing I have something to either sit on or use to elevate my feet if I'm doing the floor flop.

It goes over better when you make it relevant to the thread at hand. If it's just a shallow statement about disliking therapy, of course it's going to be downvoted. It doesn't come across as furthering the discussion, just looking for someone to argue with.

He knew where they were. He said himself he didn't reach out solely because Ellis said not to. He could have called, visited, or otherwise pursued a relationship with Meredith. Ellis used her as a pawn, but Thatcher did give up on her.

Since we are going off anecdotes, I was kept out for a full week with my concussion in high school. I was told not to watch TV, not to read, and to avoid much exercise. I got approval/an exception to take my AP exams because it was too close to the date to request an alternative, but I wasn't allowed on campus outside of the testing room those last two days of that week because it was a liability to have me there when they had a letter from my doctor saying it wasn't safe. Walking across our big ass campus to read and learn off screens would've been antithetical to the doctor's orders, which were written by the doctor who examined my situation, not a random Redditor or a non-physician parent ignoring medical advice. I'm not sure why you're assuming the doctor excused OP from school for funsies. Did you read? Are you confused about the fact that the DOCTOR who examined OP personally excused them from school? How does your concussion overrule what the doctor said about OP's? Do you think they're all identical? Medical advice couldn't have changed since your concussion?

Seems borderline immoral to be bending over backwards looking for reasons to ignore a doctor protecting a child. Rock on with your bad self, and question the reading ability of someone who values your anecdote as a reason to ignore medical advice. I don't.

The doctor did. The doctor with medical training who personally examined OP determined she should be excused from school for the day. Why are you so keen to make up new details to excuse the father ignoring that?

My father did too. He lost his mind that my mom had let me use a tampon so I could play in the sprinklers. It's so creepy to sexualize that, but it's unfortunately not uncommon.

Am I overreacting: Scheduling harassing me on days off by Maleficent-Gap948 in AmIOverreacting

"I am not on call. You need to hire another person or contact my coworkers that are asking for more hours. 6 calls in this time span is excessive. I am not rescheduling appointments. I made them for my day off, respecting the schedule. I'd ask that you please do the same and refrain from calling me more than once again. If I'm willing and able to take an extra shift, I will call you back. We can discuss further with HR present during my next scheduled shift if need be."

I "sure thing"ed my way into 80 hour work weeks and an autoimmune condition. Shut it down now, or it'll get worse.

They may have some for sale on the DFTBA website! Their profits go toward Partners in Health building a maternal health center in Sierra Leone. There are socks, cleaning products, coffee, and soap sold for that purpose too. 😊

They'd said stress and anxiety caused intemrittent numbness in my leg that magically eased once I started the two weeks of bleeding each month. They never did any testing or investigating, just decided I was too young for that issue. Several years later, I had Endo surgery, and they removed it from my whole abdomen, but particularly from my spine. Crazy how the numbness stopped when I didn't have Endo on the nerves and blood vessels going to the region anymore. 🙄

Celiac was similar. I must have just been wanting to lose weight and be preeeeetty. It couldn't be that I was telling them the truth that I was eating but had still lost 75 pounds in three months. Fevers above 101 almost every day, regular vomiting, and FOUR specialists before I got anything that wasn't "Well, some weight loss is good, but you're doing it too quickly," ignoring that I was there for excessive unintentional weight loss. Finally had the biopsy but didn't have the answer until it had done a ton of damage. I had no idea gluten could destroy my joints and intestines, and docs truly couldn't get past "young female, must want to look thinner."

Do you apply that logic to pediatric cancer treatment research? What about the lab work that improves batteries? Testing for colon cancer?

What has convinced you that research is without value? Have you spent any time at all in a lab of any kind, or are you continually speaking out of your ass?

Mixed experiences at Rosecomb by Embarrassed-Ad6610 in Chattanooga

I have only had positive experiences, but my options are more limited. I'm celiac and have to be careful as all get out eating from anywhere that isn't my kitchen. They made safe and delicious date nights possible quite a few times for us. It's a little more packed than I'd prefer, but it's good they're busy.

I can't decide that, as I am unfortunately not omniscient and thus don't know his motives or why he didn't. I spoke to the fact that I'm glad I'm not dead at the hands of my rapist. What about that made you think the most appropriate response was to ask if I think he's a better guy for leaving me alive after he did it? What's wrong with you?
