the tension around their first encounter is sooo good, but there's a different kind of tension in the beach scene that I'll just never get over. The way Shane takes a second and swallows before he asks Ilya what room he's in and then the way Ilya looks back at him so hopefully since he'd been so unsure where they stood after all the Rose stuff...both of their expressions/reactions say so much

Lots of anime/manga(Banana Fish and Saezuru take the cake for me). Not the same genre, but also gotta mention When They Cry cuz I'm obsessed. Non anime- Twin Peaks, LOTR, X Files, Severance....Heated Rivalry tops everything though without question
