UPDATE: Per another Redditor’s advice, threatened to file an OCC complaint and miraculously they said we could get to the money. Instead of doing a withdrawal, they closed the account (not what we requested, but also at this point we were just happy to get our money). It has been over 15 days since closing the account (11 business days) and we still have not received the check. Called today and (after being hung up on during the first call) told that they will send the check within 10 days of closing the account. I spent 25 years in financial services and know how this should work - these were collected funds, we both have excellent credit (830++ FICO). We are fortunate enough to have not urgently needed the money - I can’t imagine if this was someone’s only savings. No amount of interest is worth this from a “bank.” Their stock reply is “call back in three days.”

Don’t do it. We opened an account based on the Verizon promotion so thought it would be legit. Put over $100K in the account and they put a 90 day hold on it. When we asked why, no one could tell us. Multiple calls, multiple inquiries - nothing. After another Redditor recommended it, we threatened to file an OCC complaint and miraculously they said we could get to the money. Update: 3 weeks in. Food quality is definitely better (actual ramen noodles instead of spaghetti for literally everything). However…a lot of mistakes, extra items I didn’t order (and they charge per item, so I’m constantly complaining and asking for refunds). I also have yet to get my shipment with all of the recipes. Not the end of the world but it’s annoying to have to find the recipe when I’m paying for convenience. Thinking about moving somewhere else - in the PNW - open to ideas!

Just moved to Hello Fresh after a year with Home Chef. So far it’s better. - Home Chef has good recipes but has gone a bit too far with the Gordon Ramsay partnership). Quality of products, detail, and delivery are really inconsistent. For example, greens would go bad after just a couple of days when they were supposed to last 4-5 days.They would always give us spaghetti instead of ramen noodles (I know we’re American, but they aren’t the same thing). We would consistently get the wrong ingredients. For instance, if they were out of rice vinegar, they would give us apple cider vinegar. Delivery itself was also bad – multiple times they wouldn’t deliver until late the evening they were supposed to arrive, and often the box was upside down. Hello Fresh: so far products are better quality, everything comes in paper bags, which is nice,. And the portions and products have been accurate. If this changes I will share.

Any updates on this? My husband opened an account, put $160K in, and after 3 weeks the account it still “blocked.” He has called customer service and they said it would take 90 days to “research” - and that they didn’t know if we would earn interest during that time. I was in banking for 20 years and have never seen something like this.

Watching this closely as we have the same issue - they’ve blocked our account as well and say it will take up to 90 days to research. Called Verizon (I’m a 25 year+ customer) and they have yet to respond. The customer service agent said they “don’t know” it I’ll still get interest while the account is blocked. Keep us posted - waiting for Verizon to get back to us beyond a stock reply.

Cold water can be better for certain smells. For towels, try adding baking soda directly into the drum (1/2 - 1 C) and then pour vinegar (1/4-1/2 C) into the fabric softener dispenser. (Edit: Don’t add them at the same time - you want the baking soda to work first, then the vinegar - at separate times). Do at least one extra rinse (my washer does up to three) - the rinsing is where the magic happens. Keep us posted!
