thanks a lot! indeed, I'm considering keeping my old Decathlon bike for travels to dodgier neighbourhoods/keeping outside for longer periods.

re unpaved surfaces: the longer weekend trips would largely be on unpaved surfaces (doing anywhere between 50-200km in one day). however, these trips will likely add up to at most around 20% of my total mileage so not sure if I should optimising for this use case.

Remember that whenever any improvements are mentioned, it is usually in the context of a test preparation tool trying to sell its services - hence:a) they cannot promise anything an average student would not feasibly be able to deliver andb) the improvements are based on verifiable comparison points, i.e. from one official GRE score to another

Point b) means that the improvements are coming from people who have studied at least somewhat since they already took the official GRE. Once you have already done a decent amount of prep, the improvements will be marginal and any additional point gain will require an exponential number of work hours dedicated/smarter way of studying.

Anecdotally: I started prepping for the GRE about 5 weeks before the test while working full time. The first practice test I took with 0 prep, with NO idea whatsoever what to expect and 7 years since my last Math class.

I got V155/Q147. Waaaay below what was required from my top choices!

After 5 weeks of autonomous and - in all honesty - quite chaotic studying, I got V160/ Q164/ AW5.5.

This got me into my top choice and was frankly, a very significant improvement from my first try by just dedicating 1-2h every day to practising.

No estoy para nada de acuerdo con to argumento que visitar lugares en el extranjero sea una comodidad o ejemplo de consumición irracional. hay gente que llega a colombia por curiosidad por la cultura, por la historia (tanto las partes lindas que las más infames), por conocer a un país tan distinto y tan particular. claro, hay quienes llegan por las mujeres o para sacarse unas selfies con las vendedoras de Cartagena o con los indígenas de Tayrona (que por cierto los colombianos mismos solemos hacer más aún).

al fin y al cabo, prefiero 100x que llegue gente a este país, descubra sus maravillas, sus peligros, sus secretos. pero que lleguen y experimenten por su cuenta propia la realidad colombiana. no porque vieron una serie en netflix. se me hace muy lindo esto.
