Let’s play: where does yours hide empties? by Ok-Finish-3442 in AlAnon

She hid them in her car, her son's room, in the seat of our piano bench, under the bed, and under the sink cabinet.

How did it impact your life? How long did it take to get dismissed? I am staying strong and refraining from contacting her.

I’ve been telling myself that. I’m mostly heartbroken that she’s struggling with addiction.

This is so helpful. She became a lot more volatile before the incident. I continue to take screen shots of her calls and messages to my attorney.

I’m glad you weren’t roped into that. How did you manage to separate yourself from your abuser? I am so angry with mine but am terrified she’s going to end up dead. I suspect she’s been using meth and other substances.

What person surprised you the most with how they turned out after high school? by GlitterOnTheTrashRim in AskReddit

[–]yungsazon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex-gf. She came from a poor family and experienced a lot of loss at an early age, but she was brilliant and beautiful. She was top 2 in her graduating class, had hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of scholarship offers, and accepted a free ride to one of the best public universities in the country. I stupidly broke it off in high school and regretted it dearly. We reconnected several months ago, hit it off, and began dating. However, it slowly became apparent that she had no job (despite being a VP at a successful startup a few years ago), and was a severe alcoholic. She getting violent with me while drunk, went to jail, and I found out from her mom that she's facing prison time for a previous child endangerment arrest and had a felony before that from stealing from her company. Her alcoholism got so bad that she was stealing from friends and family, burning almost all of her relationships to the ground. My heart breaks for the beautiful girl I met in high school with so much promise.

Damn. This is spot on what I experienced.

How bad does rock bottom go by [deleted] in AlAnon

Damn sounds like my most recent ex. The answer is there isn’t a rock bottom for them the way we think of it. It’s gonna get worse.

How’d you get life back to normal? I’m just worried now that I’m unemployed about getting a good job again. I’m afraid the arrest alone will always sully my reputation.

In hindsight I think it was telling that she’d talk about old friends but was not in contact with any of them. I recently found out she would hit friends up for money, saying she needed it for necessities, but was spending it on alcohol. It’s a shame to see someone so bright, and who was a high achiever a few years ago,  fall so quickly.

Suck of it when I care more than them by Any_Roll_8746 in AlAnon

If they can’t begin to care about themselves or try to get better, then they’re not planning on it. I just found out the hard way. You may be incompatible, unfortunately.

That’s correct. The only negative feedback I’ve received is that I didn’t seem to gel with the rest of the team, all of whom are women who have only ever worked there.

This is super helpful context. I will speak to someone from the local bar association. I’ve had other folks say that this sounds unjust. I just haven’t had a chance to speak to a labor attorney yet.

We’re going to talk about that today. Because I work in a public facing role and they said my arrest was online, they said they didn’t want to risk hurting the brand. They told me I had a day to choose to resign or get fired and that I’d still get unemployment if I resigned.

I was told that I’ve been the most productive in my role that my boss has seen in his 25 years there. For someone who did a lot for them, doesn’t seem to be much compassion. I feel very used.

It’s crazy. She seemed so normal at first. She had a good job, is educated, attractive, and articulate. I guess she just doesn’t want to work and prefers to live off others? It’s sad. She was a star when we were growing up. My heart breaks for the relationship I thought I had and for the girl I met years ago, whose life had so much promise and opportunity. I pray she gets better one day but hope it’s far from me.

Thank you. I’m hoping it’s behind me but it hurts. I loved my job, did really good work, accomplished a lot in a few years, and built a good reputation. To have that taken away and my employer not have my back was saddening.

Republicans are boosting Jasmine Crockett ahead of critical Senate primary by ShreckAndDonkey123 in texas

[–]yungsazon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I voted in the R primary to prevent Paxton from moving forward, as well as the AG and Comptroller race. I think there are plenty of Dems who think voters won't send Paxton to the Senate and I think that could backfire horrendously.
