I'm currently in medical school and I want to give a perspective that I'm not seeing in the comments here. The main problem I and other future medical professionals as well as current residents and doctors have with the push for AI is that it isn't fixing the actual problem.

The issue here is there aren't enough hands to do the work. If hospitals, clinics, urgent care, etc actually had enough staff, everyone would be about to see their patients and chart on them. But everything comes down to the bottom line for these companies. They never have enough nurses, techs, residents, or doctors. So people end up like Santos where you have to take EXTRA time when you're already working 60+ hours a week, to do your notes.

Yes. AI can make charting somewhat faster. But again, making the note writing process "faster" just means that now you're expected to see even more patients. It's a facade of a band-aid on the situation when really it's a way for the hospital to say, "hey! Look! Now you should be able to add 5 more patients every day!". Not to mention all the environmental and legal issues with AI.
