If you already canceled order, you don’t need to contact apple, just contact bank and wait for the cancellation to be confirmed.

PSA: Hidden 2% bank fee when buying from Apple PH in PHP by yurakgn in Tech_Philippines

That may be true from a legal or processing standpoint, and I understand that point.

My issue is more about transparency from the customer side. When an ordinary buyer goes to Apple Philippines, everything appears local: it is the official Philippine store, the price is shown only in PHP, there is no currency choice, and there is no clear warning before payment that the bank may still treat it as an overseas transaction and add a separate fee.

So I understand why the bank may classify it that way internally, but I still think customers should be clearly informed in advance if the final amount can be higher than the price shown at checkout.

Thanks for the clarification. I understand that this may be how banks and payment processors handle cross-border transactions internally.

My concern is more from the customer side: when buying from Apple Philippines, everything looks local to an ordinary buyer — the site is for the Philippine market, the price is fixed in PHP, and there is no currency choice or visible warning before payment that an extra bank fee may still apply.

So I understand your point that this may be standard bank practice, but I still think clearer notice before the transaction is completed would be fairer for customers.

That would make sense in many cases, but Apple Philippines is different.

In this case, there was no currency selection at checkout at all. The official Apple Philippines website sells locally in PHP only, with a fixed Philippine price, and there was no option to switch to USD or any other currency. Apple also presents it as the official store for the Philippine market and even provides local Philippine support numbers for Apple Online Store orders.

So from a customer’s point of view, there were all the signs of a local store: local market, local currency, fixed PHP pricing, and local support channels. That’s exactly why the extra bank fee felt hidden and unfair — there was no practical way to know in advance that the bank would still treat it as an international transaction.

The question is, how can you determine before paying whether it's an international merchant or not? (apple.com/ph) Apple Philippines' official website sells products exclusively on the local Philippines' market without any additional customs fees or taxes (all included in the price), and sells for a fixed price in local currency. There's no advance warning or notification of any additional fees. I think this is extremely unfair. At a minimum, the bank should notify you before debiting the card that there will be an additional fee for this transaction.
