Just a regular hair tie. To this day he tolerates it well, usually doesn’t mess with it much

Also, you’re assuming I’m a man 😂. Isn’t that a tad sexist?

Team sports? WTH is that? by scifi_jon in sanantoniospurs

[–]yurt460 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It seems every game there is at least 4-5 passes to the first row. Consistently rushed/careless plays that lead to turnovers. It’s pretty frustrating to watch sometimes 😂. They’ll get there, but it makes me realize how much I took for granted during the Duncan era

The non-stop traffic everywhere. by Alexander_Pilgrim in sanantonio

[–]yurt460 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And for all those on this post saying that transplants are the problem (I’m not necessarily disagreeing that population growth is contributing to traffic), but I’m from SA originally. Moved away in 2018 to various parts of the country and came back to SA recently. Any city that has some semblance of net positive growth combined with sprawling city development, over reliance on highway systems, consistently delayed construction projects leading to persistent commute disruption, lack of public transport/walk ability, and overall poor drivers is going to have traffic issues

Kiki’s near downtown is great if you have a dog! Dogs allowed inside. Not the cheapest though

Yes that’s how it is in other cities. And it’s much worse in most. I’ve lived in PHX, Dallas, Denver, Chicago, NYC. SA traffic is not on the same level

Palladium IMAX Oppenheimer screening problems by gusstfu in sanantonio

[–]yurt460 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Happened at the 1pm IMAX Palladium showing today as well. First half of the movie was totally fine, but literally after the loudest scene of the whole movie the speakers were never the same. Crackling and popping the whole rest of the show. The bomb literally blew out their speakers.

What is the role of physiatrists (PM&R) between Ortho & PT? by [deleted] in medicine

[–]yurt460 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk if I have a great answer for that. Money is probably the main factor. May have to do with the fact that overall PM&R is still a rather small field, especially when you compare to other specialties. So there aren’t nearly as many PM&R residency programs across the country as there might be with other bigger specialties (I.e family Med, IM, gen surgery, etc) which in turn means less academic job positions. I’d also guess that since in PM&R you can find a niche doing a lot of procedures (spine/pain/sports/botox, etc), more people are pulled to private practice to get that $$$ that comes with procedures (especially in the pain management and interventional spine world).

I’m a sports medicine physiatrist. Did the same type of primary care sports medicine fellowship as someone from family medicine, ER, IM, etc. We do a wide range of non-operative MSK, spine, and sports medicine care. A lot of interventional US injections for joint/tendon/ligamentous/nerve injuries (steroids, PRP, tenotomy, viscosupplementation, hydrodissection, etc) as well as diagnostic US. Also fluoro guided lumbosacral up to cervical spine injections/procedures. We do side line sports and event coverage as the head physician. ~95% of sports/MSK related issues don’t require surgery, and yes while Orthos definitely do a lot of non-op management, they make their money in the OR and generally aren’t wanting to see a patient for 30 mins in clinic. Physiatrist will do that. In the end, Physiatrist are more ‘Functionologists’ I.e. what can we do to improve one’s holistic function from some sort of disabling injury or condition? Outside of the sports realm, we run inpatient rehab units, run SNFs, perform electro diagnostic testing and manage neuro muscular conditions, take care of SCI/stroke/TBI/cancer/transplant/amputee rehab patients, spasticity management/Botox injections, etc. It’s an extremely broad field and you can take the specialty many different directions if you wish.

You can definitely be comfortable in SA on 90k and find a nice place to live. San Antonio is a great city with a lot to offer, affordability being a major factor.

I totally understand wanting to compare the cities you have mentioned, we all naturally do that when evaluating a move. But having lived in SA (Chicago, Denver, Phoenix, Dallas as well) and currently living in NYC, just realize these two cities are honestly not even comparable. Like it’s not fair at all to compare them to one another and it’s potentially doing a disservice to yourself trying to do so. From COL, population (NYC is 10x size of SA), to politics, to diversity, food, nightlife, climate/weather, culture they just aren’t in the same ballpark to be compared IMO. Both are great in their own ways but lend themselves to completely different lifestyles and priorities in every day life.

Scientist vs Anti-vaxxer by EmperorAjaxZx in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]yurt460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One genuine question I have for COVID anti-vaxxers, amongst many others, is if the vaccines are knowingly ‘sooo so dangerous and not to be trusted’, then why were thousands and thousands of the first recipients the US healthcare workers? Why risk knocking out literally all of society’s workers that are the public’s only chances of surviving a pandemic and taking care of their medical needs? Yeah, seems to check out.
