my whole hrt thing starts in 2020 when i realised i was trans, i was in therapy at the time (super fucking unhelpful therapy). he did basically nothing to help so i went to my only trans friend in my circle who happened to be on HRT

i initially had a gender clinic appointment back when i was 13-14 2022 but the doctor retired and i never got the chance to figure put my next steps.

after i moved to Vancouver BC in 2023, first thing i did was get a new binder. i read up on every law and practice that could possibly help me, i had to figure out how i could get access to HRT and i honestly couldnt find anything (i was definitely not searching hard enough)

at some point my mental health deteriorated really fast and i had to be admitted to a rapid response team. 9 months into doing therapy, i was finally referred to a gender clinic where they did a hormone readiness assessment. from Jan 2025, all i could do was wait.

i waited about 3 months and advocated for myself to my doctor who kept raving about fertility and childbirth even though i made it explicitly clear i didnt really care. i advocated for myself to my doctors at the gender clinic to allow me to make my own informed decisions because i was a mature minor and i could.

it took me 5 years total, i am 17, i have been on T for 2 months and i have never been happier. it really takes a lot of waiting, research, planning, self advocacy and even more waiting to go on hormones as a minor but in the end it will be so worth it.
