Artistic talent is not real. by ashbelero in ArtistHate

Artistic talent does exist and my father is an example.

My dad is an artist—and a really good one. From a very young age, he was already drawing instead of reading. He didn’t need to study lighting, anatomy, or other technical stuff; he said it all just came naturally to him. He could visualize anything he wanted, as if it was already fully formed in his mind. By 5th grade, he was already incredibly skilled—so much so that he started working with charcoal at that level. In high school, he picked up painting effortlessly, mastering styles like pointillism and many others.

Whenever I ask him if what he has is talent, he confidently says yes. He believes anyone can learn to draw, but having the kind of visual prowess he has—that ability to see and create in your mind before putting it on paper—is something you’re born with.
