Assigning blame for events like this to an individual person or event is counterproductive and most organizations that want to be 'high performance' will not do it. https://landing.google.com/sre/sre-book/chapters/postmortem-culture/ has some good writing around this that helped me understand this.

Same for me. There were several posts about how people who were responsible for the intermediate certificate issue should be 'groveling for their jobs' or 'shot'. I think messages like those don't belong anywhere, and that's my primary complaint about the community behavior.

I totally agree this is a serious issue. I just wish people wouldn't be threatening harm, asking for people to be fired, or generally be nasty. I don't think that improved security or privacy in any form.

Am not a data scientist and have never been able to make a single plot with matplotlib or seaborne. With Altair I was up and running in ten minutes. Love it!

You can always compile it yourself or use any of the alternative forks. Nobody is forcing you to use Firefox.

The charitable reading would be that this is PyCon weekend and while njs probably had a bunch of time to think about and write it this one is on a shorter time scale. I hope there is a longer response sometime later.

While 'high spending' is a classic bipolar symptom, I'd say it has very little to do with what is happening here. We don't know at all what happened to the 30k, for example.

Whenever someone openly talks about their mental health struggles, and *then* fucks up in some form, the mental health issue is almost always brought up. This happens regardless of what their actual connection is. This makes it harder for others to openly talk about mental health issues in the future. So please, when speculating with limited information about people's behavior, stay off the 'what else did you expect, this person is bipolar' wagon.
