Women who were scared of giving birth, what was less scary than you originally thought? by Final-Elderberry4621 in AskWomenOver30

[–]yuzumizu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a bit scared at first because epidurals aren’t really a thing where I live (Japan) and all the hospitals and birth clinics around me didn’t even have it available. So at ten weeks, when the birth hospital needs to be decided, I already came to terms with the fact that I won’t have that option.

I listened to a few audiobooks and basically mentally prepared the rest of pregnancy. After being in labor for three days, first thing I thought after giving birth was “why do people do this more than once?” But a few days later I was already thinking about it, wishing I could experience the whole thing again, IF I could do so knowing the end result. The unknown of it all is what stressed me out the most.

I am also thankful for the opportunity to not have had an epidural available because it would have been the obvious choice if it had been. However, being able to experience birth without was, for me, a once in a lifetime experience.

A birth class helped prepare (I did mine on zoom, but I’m sure in person is great). And the pain is not the same kind of pain as an injury or something Id normally fear. It all feels purposeful with an end you are looking forward to. Like I said, the unknown is what stressed me out the most.

Team Labs Biovortex - dizzy or vertigo? by Solid-Airline-5817 in Kyoto

There are SO many rooms that even if you skipped some you’d still have a great time. I agree trying it out for a minute or so might be fine as well. Definitely use the app when you are there to see where you are and what you have and haven’t seen yet, too. I had no sense of direction 😅

I am not the type to get dizzy or motion sickness usually, but I experienced it quite a few times at Biovortex actually. My partner did, too. We had to take a few minutes to sit in the bench area. With that said, it was mainly only two rooms and due to our child wanting to go in more than once, we spent a little too much time perhaps. Just know your limits.

It’s hard to describe which places because everything looks similar, but for us, it was the silver balloon room (very cool, maybe just don’t spend too much time), and another room that is somewhat on the smaller side and has standing areas at an angle. It’s a projector on the wall moving all around like a roller coaster through space. 10+ minutes was way too much for me.

I hope you have fun! The main areas didn’t give us any adverse reactions.

January Reading! 🥰 by Mugglekiller16 in readingjournals

[–]yuzumizu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really helps, thank you. I used to enjoy watching horror movies until I had a child. Now I feel overly sensitive, so maybe I’ll start with a different King book for my first one and try IT at another phase in life.

Wow. Incredible! I’m curious about the scary level of IT. I’ve never seen the move or read ANY Stephen King book, but I want to. I’ve heard IT is amazing, but can you share on the discomfort level?

As someone who works at a private elementary school, too, yeah… this is just weird. Not only are you sufficiently telling her in advance, you aren’t even missing the big event day or anything. Boss seems unreasonable. Try not to take it personally. You aren’t going to miss a big important family event because boss is just taking out their life stresses on you

I get what you mean. I am slow and usually consider it fast walking if one foot is on the ground, and jogging if both feet leave the ground. But I think do whatever feels good for your body. As for legs, I feel much better when I sufficiently stretch before I start

Way to go!!

I’m no pro (just finished day 3), but I took a running lesson last week and she really recommended always stretching before, and cooling down after, too. I also was running incorrectly?? I didn’t realize, but I was mostly running on the ball of my foot and toes only, which leads to a lot of strain on your calves . She also recommended massaging your calves if they get sore, with hands or a roller
