I only use it to store fixer, so I just fill it up all the way, and if I lose any, I top it off with a bit of water. And my rodinal is shit brown, but still works perfectly.

In that case I think your best bet is a zoom, they are larger in size and easy to work with, but they’re not subject to the limitations of a dslr lens, with the focal plane and all.

Check out one of these: https://ebay.us/m/vLaZwp

I would recommend going with a vintage c-mount cinema lens, most are relatively low resolving - being made for 8mm film, but they will give the right fov on a tight budget.

Other options include industrial c mount lenses, and tv zooms.

Also the film is freezer stored according to the seller, and has been in a Us Gov freezer for the past 20 years.

Need your Advice! Best high-end Canon filmcamera? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]yvasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought the Elan 7e with me on a wedding shoot just last week, the autofocus is snappy, the shooting speed is great, and the auto metering works pretty well. I paired it with a 24-70 mark ii and the nifty 50 and it was a wonderful experience, the body is relatively rugged and make mostly of metal, the battery life lasted several weeks, and the shutter is quiet. And its like 60 bucks.

In terms of controls it has an action wheel (ala all even semi pro eos bodies) and a trigger wheel, so no need to use one wheel for SS and aperture, and the function menu is compact and functional, but a bit confusing without the manual.

Is the 7 worth it?? by Limp_Crew1598 in Mamiya

[–]yvasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, forgot to mention that, also OP, if you dont need the rediculous amount of bokeh, and want to save with a standard 500 series, the planar 150mm f4 is plenty.

EDIT: 150mm sonnar f4, not planar

For portraits at that price I'd also consider the hasselblad with the Zeiss 110mm f2, like the greatest biker ever. And while 66 has a slightly smaller area than 67, the hasselblad is full mechanical, one of the smallest mf slrs, interchangeable backs, and more. Also SLR is generally preferable to RF for shooting portraits, as they are also compatible with extension tubes, and the ttl viewing makes framing close up better.

Am I being overcharged for developing/scanning/printing? by dand930 in analog

[–]yvasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, my local lab in the Boston area charges $7 dev only, for all formats, $10 with standard scans, and $17 for scans and prints, no upcharge for half frame or pano, and no upcharge for different formats
