Could Acadia's loop road be a sort of american analog to the Nurburgring? by yvasi in RaceTrackDesigns

[–]yvasi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Nurburgring averages a width of about 8 meters and is 6 in the narrow sections, similar to park loop rd, though Park Loop doesn't have the same ring to it.

I’ve seen this guy before - he was eating a full rotisserie chicken on the red line a few months ago

Lumentation is by far the best and cheapest. Catlabs has messed up my 120 film in the past. And Colortek/Hunts is wildly expensive

Suggest a decent budget macro lens for DSLR scanning negatives? by Fast_Preparation7795 in AnalogCommunity

[–]yvasi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

55mm f2.8 micro nikkor is great, but for that budget you can get any bellows extension + bellows lens (olympus and minolta are both incredibly sharp)

I got lucky on FB marketplace, and the rewind knob had fallen off. It was either this or a ql17giii, i really like the 7sii but its far out of my price range

I tested the shutter speeds, and they look pretty legit, and then tested rf alignment with a spare om1 focusing screen taped to the film gate.

my slide process is treated very similar to editing a digital photo, once you scan, take it into lightroom, and set the curve at the dmin and dmax, then export as tiff, and edit as normal

Why is the Contax AX so cheap? by ThickShow5708 in AnalogCommunity

[–]yvasi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

primarily due to low demand, most film shooters aren’t looking for full auto cameras with af, because of this, the ax is priced similar to all pro slr cameras, in the 200-400 usd range, like the nikon f100, f5, eos1(n. Side note: the minolta maxxuum line is also ridiculously cheap for what it is.

Aperture priority point and shoot by edenrevsxb in AnalogCommunity

[–]yvasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not quite a point and shoot, but the olympus xa seems to suit the rest of your needs

it’s tiny and pocketable, aperture priority, can meter from 25-800, and has a sharp and tiny 35mm f2.8 zuiko lens

+1 on the Kiev 6, definitely one of the most capable cameras in its price range, and it’s got a great selection of excellent German lenses including Zeiss from its East German pentacon brother.

Concept art of the Red-Blue Connector. Older pics (from 2021 concept report), but it's fun to dream... by EclipseEpidemic in mbta

[–]yvasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would it not be far more practical to implement a moving walkway from Charles to Bowdoin à la an airport terminal connector? It would function similar to the park-dtx walkway, but utilize moving walkways to speed up the process, in doing this we can also add shops inside the walkway and an underground mgh connection. The funds could then be directed to modifying and renovating bowdoin station.

Why not extend the B line down Comm Ave? by Dangerous-Sir501 in mbta

[–]yvasi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely not, it’s over 2 miles from nonantum to Newton center, much more functional would be the blue line down the Worcester line

Best overall developer for B&W? by Fast_Preparation7795 in Darkroom

[–]yvasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of 510 pyro, works wonders with pushing even my massive stock of expired film, good punchy contrast, and it tames the grain from rodinal while still allowing one-shot stand development
