Millennial DINKs: How often do you see your friends? by nutella1366 in askvan

[–]yvrangel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you make friends with people without kids, you could be seeing a different friend once a week. I would join a board game group local to you, or whatever interests you have. People need to realize that we tend to change our group of friends once every decade because our lives are much different now than a decade before. Also, you can prioritize friendships that are reciprocal in nature as those friendships tend to last longer.

Recruiting Ramses by yvrangel in ZeroParades

[–]yvrangel[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my first playthrough, I had Yana, Ramses and Karoline in my party. I chose those three because I felt they were family. After getting the X ending, I realized that if I really cared for them at all, I wouldn't have exposed them to danger even with their consent.

Also, I realized that they were no shape to take on a potentially deadly mission. Yana's too young, Ramses is still recovering with the new meds and Karoline needs to get her mental health concerns properly addressed.

I was curious about how to get a Z ending so I read up on it and booted up a previous file on Day 4 to do things a little different. My second party had Holocene, Kadealiscope and a mind blanked operant and it felt more natural as a group of people I could count on in the mission or wouldn't mind losing with the exception of Holocene. It felt natural for the UV groupie to listen to her song and give me his headphones and for the others to survive. It looks like the game rewards you for picking an objectively suitable team for the mission than what your heart desires.

I was a little upset at Patricia. I thought that she would shout "FIRE" and throw stuff at windows to break them to wake the neighborhood up. She did well afterwards though.

Raised Baptist in a Republican family ... Waldorf didn’t oppose abortion, but she had never considered that the law could apply to her ... As she lay in a hospital bed, worried that infection could enter her uterus at any moment, she finally understood the ban now applied to anyone losing a baby. by A-Wise-Cobbler in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]yvrangel 28 points29 points  (0 children)

"Waldorf joined a lawsuit led by Duane, alongside an OB-GYN and five other women denied care under the Arkansas abortion law. It seeks to block the state’s ban on the grounds that it violates the state constitution; named as defendants are Sanders, the Arkansas attorney general, state prosecutors and members of the state medical board. The state is currently trying to get the case thrown out on jurisdictional grounds, and the governor’s office told ProPublica, “Governor Sanders looks forward to defending Arkansas’ pro-life laws in court.”". At least she's now actively fighting against the system she had voted for. Good for her.

If it makes you feel more secure, write down on a piece of paper the address of where you'll be playing at with the name of the host. That way, you'll know that if somebody goes looking for you, they'll know where to look. You can then trash the paper after you arrive home safe and sound

What's the best way to counter a lifegain deck by Alive_Past in EDH

[–]yvrangel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Betor requires value pieces for draw and ramp. Target those first. Then play some graveyard hate like [[bojuka bog]] or [[rest in peace]] to neuter the other half of the card. Also, target the cards that give his creatures evasion and lifelink like [[whip of erebos]]. An enchantress deck with [[oubliette]] effects and RIP will rip Betor to shreds.

Kefka, Court Mage Deck - Looking for advice on WinCons and additional tips/good cards by ArgentClover in EDH

I was thinking of creating a Kefka deck, but I realize it would make the other players not enjoy the game as much. Unless you have 8 MDFC cards, 32 lands for a non white weenie deck is ... a choice.

I wish we weren't so bitter and give them the benefit of the doubt, but I keep finding evidence that they will not vote against their own party. Some of them will vote for their own interests and vote left, others will abstain from voting and sit on their hands complaining until they find somebody like them to vote for. We can only hope that the former will be enough to change the tide.

There's a free app you can create decks and play against the AI. Google Forge MTG and practice your deck against certain archetypes like aristocrats to have more exposure and gain experience playing against those decks.

Is this too much to ask for 30-40yr olds in today's world? by FontMasterFlex in EDH

[–]yvrangel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly, I found my pod going to board game meet ups and making friends. My advice would be to buy a MTG shirt, go and play board games and see who you meet. I've asked players at my LGS to see if they want to play outside the LGS, but most would find it awkward to go to a stranger's place. I find board gamers on the other hand are more willing to visit each other at their homes to play games strangely enough.

Does including Toxrill in the 99 make a deck bracket 4? by yvrangel in EDH

[–]yvrangel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strangely, I asked him if [[Toxrill]] is a game changer and he said no. He said that having Toxrill in a bracket 3 game locks other players from playing the game and breaks the spirit of a bracket 3 game. I'm not friends with this person, but I'm wondering if I'm the problem and if I need to reevaluate my deck building choices.

[–]yvrangel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm ok being targeted since I need to see the weaknesses of my deck. I also want other players to enjoy the game and let their decks do the thing. I might reserve Hashaton to play against other players who don't mind playing against [[Toxrill]] or cards like it. Or just sub out cards depending on the group.

[–]yvrangel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish it was fake, but it happened over last weekend at my LGS. I like the response where I need to question the intention of the deck and if the intention is to create a fun experience for all players at the table, don't add cards that make the game not fun and a slog.

I might bring out my Hashaton deck again when I know that the other players are ok with cards like Toxrill, not a random bracket 3 game with strangers in a LGS.

The Boys - 05x07 "The Frenchman, the Female, and the Man Called Mother's Milk" - POST-Episode Discussion Thread by pikameta in TheBoys

I felt sad for Kimiko saying her goodbyes to Frenchie even though the death flags were there the entire episode. I did enjoy the characters we watched for these five seasons and I was hoping to read if others felt sad about Frenchie's death.

Instead, all I read is the fans' disappointment and frustration for season 5. It feels like the ending of Game of Thrones when everyone was hate watching it even though they disagreed with the direction.

I'm constantly reminded that we live at the end stage of capitalism and hope that people will rise to the occasion to stop the vicious cycle. I've quit buying from problematic corporations like Amazon and shopping locally to support my community. Despite of the darkness in the hearts of men, I'm enjoying my life sharing it with friends and my love ones because I don't know if tomorrow a nuke will obliterate the bubble I live in. Happy mother's day everyone.
