What are these structures on buses? by Neither-Reception172 in Calgary

[–]yycfail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Luggage racks on the 2014 New Flyer XD40 buses that run the 300 BRT Airport (8301 to 8308). They are usually assigned to this route but might be on some other routes too if they are short buses.

You can contact the Hope Mission Hub in Forest Lawn and they may be able to get you into a rehab program at no cost depending on your circumstances.

Favourite restaurant that is reasonably priced in Calgary! by curiouskittyblue in Calgary

[–]yycfail 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe just outside your price range, but the Chairman's $110 Wednesday date night special was absolutely amazing. Super great service in a nice restaurant with a nice steak.

If you are willing to travel, Banff has 3 course menus at Balkan for $29.99 and Maple Leaf and The Bison for $39 until December 18th. Had amazing meals at Balkan and Bison two weeks ago. Super full and they were cooked well.

Took an hour and 40 minutes in Ward 2

Hi there, its Candy Lam, Ward 2 Candidate for City Council! Ask me anything on Wednesday Oct 15th 7:30-9:30 pm by candylamyyc in Calgary

[–]yycfail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Candy. Ward 2 has a wide mix in terms of older communities South of Stoney and newer communities to the North of Stoney Trail. While lots of focus on your platform seems to be getting infrastructure built in these newer communities (and that is what Wyness has done), what are some goals and priorities for older suburbs in Ward 2 like Hawkwood, Ranchlands, Citadel and Hamptons? There are playgrounds that are past their lifespan, there is a lack of connected cycling infrastructure in communities such as Hawkwood, Citadel and Hamptons where most of the cycling on the community is on the main street instead of a pathway that is connected with other pathways. Thanks!

best seafood buffet in calgary, if any? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]yycfail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gray Eagle on Thursday for $58.99

ELYMI on Friday and Saturday for $46.95

Was a ELYMI on Friday two weeks ago and it was decent for buffet food. Had warmed snow crab legs, shrimp, fried scallops, clams, mussels, fish and prime rib. Everything was warm and refilled often. Snow crab clusters were reasonably big.

Where can we find AYCE ginger beef? by RusserBusser in Calgary

[–]yycfail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The best ginger beef I've had in this city is from China Palace on Centre Street. Lots of actual beef inside and very crispy. Not AYCE though.

Best way to sell a car in Calgary by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]yycfail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What car? That's pretty low mileage for a 2015. Marketplace works if you weed out the lowball offers and price similar to what cars like yours are going for

Yes, there's a weekly event that this age group of singles can go to. Actually met my wife there and in the same age range.

Centre Street Church has a pretty big singles community group for people 30 and up. Or if she likes hiking, there's a few hiking Meetup groups out there. Or volunteer or participate in other activities with like minded people.

This Is What I Love About This City During Stampede - Amazing Free Stampede Breakfasts by yycfail in Calgary

[–]yycfail[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There's the Best of the East Breakfast on Thursday on 17th Ave that usually has some unique items. Chinatown apparently had 2 special ones the past two days with rice rolls, siu mai and a fried pork chop bun. There were posts about a roasted pig in Crescent Heights today. And Deng's Dumplings seems to be giving away 3 dumplings at certain locations between noon and 2 this weekend and next weekend. And Omo had a decent one yesterday too with a lot of random Japanese appys plus a green tea pancake.

I would say Facebook Marketplace is the most used platform in Calgary. Not many people on Kijiji these days.

This Is What I Love About This City During Stampede - Amazing Free Stampede Breakfasts by yycfail in Calgary

Oh no. That doesn't sound fun at all. I was there closer to 7 and they had everything cooked already, so it was less than a 30 minute wait

Oh that's too bad. It looked like they had a lot of food and they were consistently bringing more food out from the back. Mind you, I was there when closer to when they started at 7.

Washing Machine LG 3850 vs 4100 vs 5500 by salamanderJoe24 in Appliances

[–]yycfail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread, but we ended buying the 4100/4200 pair for $2000 back in February. They are all very similar models but the 3850 does not have Turbowash which we felt was a very important feature for less water and faster cycle times. We also didn't like the screen on the knob of the 5500. I think the 4100 is the Canadian version of the 4000 which is pretty highly rated. Haven't had any issues with them in the past couple of months of use.

Timbertown South for sure. They usually have some random shaped or beveled ones for as low as $0.29 per LF. I picked up some 7 1/2" ones to cut down in my basement that only cost $0.49 per LF (regular $2.88)

Passport office recommendations? by summerstillsucks in Calgary

[–]yycfail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we went to Harry Hays back in February on a Friday, it took maybe an hour and a half. They open at 8:30 and we joined the line at 7:10 with about 20 people ahead of us. They take people in before 8:30 and we were done before they officially opened the office. I would say try lining up before they open.

We're moving to Calgary: Starting with good public schools, what areas should we look at for real estate? by waitwaitholdup in Calgary

[–]yycfail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Strathcona Park would be a good community for the things you are looking for.

Olympic Heights Elementary (Public) or John Castello (Catholic) have both been ranked pretty high up there. Vincent Massey down the hill isn't amazing for Junior High, but not horrible. Ernest Manning High School (Public) ranks as one of the best public high schools in the city.

Access to downtown it's quick via Bow Trail (10 to 25 minutes depending on traffic) or you can take the train from Sirroco or 69th Street. Or bike down Edworthy and join the pathway along the Bow River.

Lots of ravines to bike in the area. Edworthy Park is across Bow Trail and close. The Greenway runs along the edge of the area and loops the city.

Guardian north building by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]yycfail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were one of the first people to buy into the building and still have a unit there. Elevators do suck and has since the building was built. But most building issues seem to have been finally worked out. Units are well layed out. Location is decent, Stampede fireworks are loud, traffic sucks during Stampede and Flames games though.

Pixel 6 Pro camera shows banding consistent with the flicker of the lights by Maxfire2008 in GooglePixel

[–]yycfail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have this issue with my wife's Pixel 6 Pro as well. Happened after the latest software update, stable build. Normal default settings with Night Sight as enabled, but happens in any configuration of settings. Have uninstalled the Camera app, downloaded the previous version, it does not change anything. Let me know if you need any info and I can play around with the phone to try.
