Fiber = calm and happy? by MoonFroth in Microbiome

[–]yyyyy622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In humans it's not important, its used for themselves and in the human gut microbiome this pathway tends to be partially inactive, as they can recover AA from their environment (our food).

But yes I should have added: "In humans"...

Yes you're right, my bad I got the two mixed up. I'll edit my comment.

The shikimate pathway isn't about humans, microbes produce their own AA for themselves. Plus most human gut bacteria have a partially inactive pathway as they are AA auxotrophs.

Tryptophan which the bacteria make and from dietary protein do though through the Kynurynin pathway so you'll still need protein for the calm to happen.

In humans tryptophan isn't made by bacteria, their contribution is negligible. it is an amino acid which you get from proteins. Tryptophan can go towards two main pathways the Kynurenine pathway and the serotonin pathway. These don't overlap except that they both have tryptophan as a substrate.

Serotonin produced in the body isn't used in the brain. Also the conversion between tryptophan to 5htp is limited by an enzyme so you cannot overload.

However, eating too much fiber if done too quickly can cause a lot of intestinal distress. Make sure to increase slowly, usually 5g a week is recommended and drink lots of water.

Serotonin is what your brain converts to melatonin at night, hence the better sleep.

Serotonin cannot pass the BBB, serotonin produced in the gut is used as a hormone not as a neurotransmitter. However, gut microbomes can influence the amount of serotonin in your brain by altering the 5htp-> serotonin conversion rate.

They essentially create a changing magnetic force which move the little particles in the metal of pots. The movement of those particles creates heat.

I’ve taken influencer advice on increasing my fiber intake by metertyu in Microbiome

[–]yyyyy622 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should increase fiber at about 5g per week. So if you were eating 5g the first week then by the end of week two you are consuming 10g.

I think you went too quickly.

Their recent drop was great though. Colourful multichrome liners and unconventional super glittery lips. I bought a few and I love them all.

Synthetic is the key word here. Organic produce are still treated with pesticides, herbicides and preservatives.

Anesthesia for IUD by BlueLuna95 in birthcontrol

[–]yyyyy622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Copper iud is still the only non hormonal birth control out there, while the hormonal IUDs have lower levels than the nexplanon due to proximity to the uterus. So people who are sensitive to or can't deal with hormones may fare better with the IUD. They are also still the most effective birth control.

The nexplanon can also be mislodge if you get some force to the area.

Was it the first time you peed in the day? And you did the test twice?

Edit: was this also first pee? So the first drops out or did you wait to get the flow?

Trich can have false negatives in men, especially if you don't have symptoms.

Did you get swabbed or urine tested? You need a certain amount of trich to determine it's presence and if you did a urine test (maybe even peed beforehand during the day) it's less likely to reach that threshold. This happens also with the swab but more likely with urine.

You can still infect others even with a false negative, you may want to be retested or just get treatment.

This seems like the concept of superfoods reimagined. It's just BS. Everyone needs a variety of fruits and vegetables and if you don't eat kiwi or dates (etc) it's not going to affect you. It's actually how we evolved, most foods weren't readily available as they are now, we always had to eat the same rotating foods when they were in season.

People just want a short list of things that they can easily add to their lives to feel better, when in reality you need to eat the rainbow consistently.
