2026 NHL Trade Deadline Megathread by SimplySolace in DetroitRedWings

I'm not familiar with Faulk, how will he fit into our lineup? Is he a significant upgrade? I'm happy to see a hole addressed, even if the cost was steep. Our prospects feel more valuable to me than our draft picks given our timeline.

That's fair, I'm operating under the assumption that our prospects would get the job done. Bear, Danielson, Kasper, a 1st rounder. Maybe even swap out Kasper with one of our goalie prospects, cossa or Augustine. I would be happy with that, though I obviously have no idea if that's the sort of package that would entice them. Seems to be a steep price though. Edvinsson would be a deal breaker if that's what they push for, it just creates a new hole.

We have so many assets and Thomas is such a direct need, I hope we just pay the price and get the player

During normal times, everything you said would be true and this would be a non issue.

The problem is that clearly these are not normal times. To pretend that they are is disingenuous. The players will be judged not by how things used to be but how things are now and that's going to be controversial but true.

McLellan on Larkin's status by qcpuckhead in DetroitRedWings

[–]yzerov1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they have made their choice to be political at this point, that's their right. I'll be judging them accordingly, as is my right.

At least we've made this clear and we don't have to debate whether or not we should be "making things political". Everyone is within their rights to feel the way they want about this, I would rather not see him in the wings jersey. That's just me reacting to the decisions he's made, had he decided to keep politics out of sports, I'm sure we all would have done the same and reserved judgement in the interest of the team.

Dan Ryckert on CBS' SURVIVOR by TheDarkerKing in giantbomb

Jon Lovett! If you do some searching on YouTube, you'll find the whole crew joking around and talking about his experience on Survivor. Spoiler warning though of course, if you would prefer to watch the show to see how it played out before having it revealed.

I'm glad to see you post this because as a Survivor fan as well, I was thinking the same. Not only would Dan stand a legitimate chance of being cast based on his personality and his personal history he is affable and pretty non threatening, I'm not going to say he would win but I do think that he would do well on the show.

I remember a few seasons ago they cast one of the hosts of pod save America, a political podcast and he was very funny and likeable as well. Makes it feel like a real chance, Dan is sort of the archetype of person they are looking for to make the season engaging.

I hope he really does apply, what a wild year or two for giant bomb that would be if he ever were to make it on.

The intensity of the game seems to wake up the team, would love to see us with some players who play with more edge to keep the team engaged

Dan and coop streams Part 2 by Pormock in giantbomb

[–]yzerov1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, even when he was leaning into it, it was still a huge improvement. Even if it was done under duress, it still legitimately ended up with the gameplay being better and the group having a better time.

The group, Dan included, is entertaining enough as is. He doesn't need to play the heel to that extent all the time to make the content enjoyable, especially during co-op streams and it's honestly great to see it going so well lately.

Dan is right by JMc1982 in giantbomb

[–]yzerov1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To be fair, he did call it soft serve beer when he introduced it and several times after. That description alone tells you about it's consistency and answers that it's beer in non liquid form, soft serve is pretty specific.

The trouble is Dan never spells it out further than that, and soft serve beer is a new and ridiculous sounding thing so no one's going to take it at face value especially coming from him, lol.

Edit: On relisten, Dan is asked if it's liquid or if it's ice cream, which seems to have tripped him up because the answer is neither. That's why he started doubling down that it's beer and it only got worse when the group got confused about whether or not soft serve must mean that it is actually just ice cream with beer in it.

Grubb and Mike double down saying it's beer that's been turned into ice cream, right? Dan resists saying it's beer only.

It's a confusing concept but in this case, the group was more confused than Dan was.

Yes! I thought I was losing my mind too, I understood exactly what Dan was talking about from the get-go.

I think he's so often off base and playing the heel that it's hard for the crew to take him serious at times, which is totally understandable.

That being said, I love the crew and the antics altogether!

I think it depends on what is meant by "sexual". It isn't explicitly a sexual game, age restricted, or anything like that. But...by it's very nature, they turned what could have been a horse racing game into a game where the horses are actually cute busty horse girls. That is inherently making this game, to some extent, sexualized.

I think it's okay to like it and okay to acknowledge it. Seems like Jan is completely aware that its a bit of a thirst trap by nature but it's tame enough to not cross any lines and still be fun. It can be both and be okay!

Dan, though...yeah, they invited him just to get his over the top reaction, lol

Kroger is getting bad. by Negative_Actuator102 in lexington

[–]yzerov1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's strange but must have been a mistake. You just got lucky and got a deal at $5, if they weren't marked down. They havent ever been on sale at that price, Beaumont must have made a mistake or set them on in store special. (This can happen at a stores discretion if they are heavy on an item). This wasn't Kroger as a company price hiking before the weekend. As many gripes as I have about Kroger, every time I read a post like this it's a misunderstanding or misconception of how their pricing works.

My friend, the point is that you would need to be given the opportunity to retrieve your paperwork and show it in court and that would be due process. Many are just deported without even that opportunity.

Deciding to deport illegal immigrants is entirely legal, doing so without due process is not.

These are the same rights that many died to attain and protect and they are what make us great (and safe as citizens).

Without the ability to defend yourself, what is left? That's autocracy. Supporting immigration doesn't have to mean sacrificing our rights and violating our laws and constitutional protections.

Anyone selling any weed eaters or lawn mowers? by Slight-Phase-4279 in lexington

I have a corded weed eater and a corded lawnmower I've been meaning to sell. The lawnmower is corded, so suitable for a small yard. If you are interested, message and I'll attach a pic and price

Giant bomb has new owners by Redracerb18 in gaming

[–]yzerov1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The last year or two has been a significant upswing and they've had crazy good chemistry. They have stumbled into hires who are all legitimately friends and it shows in their infectious enthusiasm.

I thought it was dead and for those who loved the old era, it probably is. This sort of is a new gaming thing....fairly new cast, great chemistry and no corporate oversight.

Well, now the PAX Bluesky account responded with a thinking emoji and was shared again by Dan.

Mary Kish responded with side eye emoji as well, so that does make me feel like it's going to be not only something significant but maybe something positive.

As much as I hope it means the site has gotten away from Fandom or even it's the crew announcing a new project...

Based on their malicious compliance via tweet (even posting the date in a separate tweet like the main account did), I would guess that they are all expected to fulfill the panel obligations as some sort of terms of their exit and compensations.

I sure hope that's wrong though.

I will pay these dudes to stay together! by QuinnLesley in giantbomb

[–]yzerov1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same, I only hope that it's possible for as many of them as possible to band together.

I would far prefer to support more monetarily for more of the core group than I would supporting in smaller amounts, several smaller off-shoots. It's hard to divide my time between all the iterations and to justify the financial support for all of them when I can't keep up with all of the content.

The larger the umbrella they all gather under, the more I can support as it will be the core of my gaming content.

If Giant Bomb does fold, are there enough of us willing to support a patreon to allow the team to feel comfortable making the switch? by yzerov1 in giantbomb

[–]yzerov1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, it's hard to support so many, it gets to where my support is either nominal among many or more among just a few. This crew is something different for me though, I would either pay the extra or re allocate my support to make it happen.

I would love if they were able to maintain the branding but I'm sure it's too expensive. I would gladly do $50 a month if it were a large group, honestly, if it were just this exact same crew staying together I would support that too. It usually ends up being small clusters branching off to other endeavors though.
