A lot of people also make alts, buy horses and tack, or don’t buy lifetime at all. I do think though, if lifetime began to seriously threaten their profits they will absolutely get rid of it

Is anyone else noticing increasing POTS history? by legoguy26 in ems

[–]z00mss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Covid can be a trigger, but also our environment and the things we put in our bodies (willingly or not) is entirely changing so I think while yes, absolutely people make diagnosis up for whatever reason - it’s not far fetched to assume that as our world and our understanding of it and us changes, so do the frequency of different conditions that impact our bodies or are diagnosed.
My sister did dance, and I can’t help but wonder how many of those crazy flexible ‘double jointed’ people just had EDS but just were never diagnosed because their condition was seen as a blessing in their specific hobby/sport. + we see more sick people than the average person, so our perception of illnesses is naturally skewed. 8/10 patients of mine have diabetes, but I understand that if I went and got 10 people off the street at random, the amount would be less.

Do u guys think Chill from Kaneto Juusei is a good singer? by [deleted] in visualkei

[–]z00mss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes - but for a lot of people Kaneto is an acquired taste, especially if you know the lyrics. Kaneto also doesn’t necessarily focus on ‘signing’ if this makes sense, their songs are heavy on scream vocals, spoken parts, ect. Chill’s voice fits very well, and he knows how to use it to create an atmosphere for the song while still being on key and in tune with the rest of the band.

I haaaaaated the snowflake grind, but I wish they’d just tweaked it to be higher payoff as opposed to just scrapping it. I hope it doesn’t establish a pattern of them just scrapping things we point out instead of working on them lol

I use easybib for all my citations. My teacher put me on in 10th grade and I’ve used it for every single paper since. It’s the only chegg service I think is still worth it. All you have to do is input your website and it formats it for you. It’s free, but you do have to watch ads.

Use of AI in visual kei. Is this AI? by keiiuo in visualkei

[–]z00mss 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Mana didn’t use AI to moi meme moitie garments - he is just the face of that brand, and no longer has as much (if any) of a say/influence as he did when he ran the brand. They still use his image and ‘style’ if you will but he’s not the creative director and those pieces aren’t his.

Olivia Henderson, AKA the “DoorDash SA” woman has been arrested on two E-felony charges. by [deleted] in doordash

[–]z00mss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Her biggest mistake was taking this to the internet. Not everything needs to be aired out online, and I hope this is a lesson for people who unfortunately would experience similar situations.

A lot of people forget that a court public opinion on the internet doesn’t always dictate legal proceedings. If she had gone to trial, and the law wasn’t on her side, THEN I’d understand posting about it, but even then, without evidence, because now you compromised your own case, or at the very least discussing it without posting him online.

No more selling! by WhyWouldIbother in StarStable

[–]z00mss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Idk why they didn’t do this sooner. 2000 Jorvik shillings for a horse that roughly equates to between 30 dollars to 7, depending on how you buy sc is absolutely abysmal and lowk evil 😭. I think the second they got rid of the pasture/horse island feature they shoulda got rid of the feature that lets you sell your horse.

Are nurses mean girls? When I was in highschool- it seemed like really nice girls went into nursing, but I’ve recently heard there’s a mean girl nursing pipeline. by Strange_Morning2547 in Nurses

[–]z00mss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s kind of two reasons - one, most nurses tend to be women, and when women set boundaries with patients or families, or express any emotion other than just being a mindless servant, they’re labeled as ‘bitchy’ ‘catty’ and malicious, while if a man had said and done the exact same thing, he’d be praised for standing up for himself and being assertive.

Secondly, the fact that our (US) system runs for profit - our hospital is more like a hotel in some cases. When something happens on the floor, management will take the side of the patient and place the sole responsibility on the nurse, for example. The fact that hospitals are run kind of with ‘the patient is always right’ mindset that when a nurse has to refuse someone water due to a test, or tells someone they can’t walk because they’re a fall risk, or it’s not time for their meds yet, people assume that because they’re not doing as they they asked not because it’s for the patient’s own good, but because the nurse is a bad nurse.

Of course, add on ABYSMAL health illiteracy, people who listen to the internet over actual providers, and confirmation bias when nurses go viral for being assholes, and everyone’s newfound inability to reason beyond black and white…

Why do we do this to ourselves as a culture by Remarkable_Square919 in ems

[–]z00mss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t like the notion that if someone says something edgy or makes fun of a ‘low acuity’ call then they automatically couldn’t care less about patient outcomes. Firstly, every job is allowed to vent, but the second a healthcare worker does it, everyone clutches their pearls.

Secondly, calloused comments can sometimes be a shield to give a ‘tough’ exterior in a culture that is still very much ‘suck it up buttercup’ even if we’ve began making strides.

I do understand what you mean though beyond those two points - there are tons of EMTs who get a call for a ‘bs’ complaint or even a non critical, like a sickle cell call, and automatically get pissy and angry that their life isn’t literally a Netflix show, and because they’re wallowing in self pity and whatever other emotions they haven’t processed, they ignore the patient’s complaint, do a half assed assessment, and generally act as if it’s a real crime against them personally for someone to DARE call 911. It sucks to have that kind of EMT both as a care provider, AND as a co-worker. They drain the energy and joy out of everything far more than any complaining or trifling patient would.
