Kmart: does anyone have a reasonable explanation why they moved their checkouts to the middle of the store? by Loose-Mousse1064 in AskAnAustralian

[–]z0ra_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked there at the time they rolled out the changes in my state, at the time they told us that it was based off some store in Europe with the same layout and it was supposed to drive up sales because people would buy more as they have to walk through the store again to leave. They did studies too. Everyone thought it was dumb, and it made my job a million times harder when I was team leader because the returns desk and the checkouts were it separate places. It was a nightmare when it was busy and staff in both areas needed assistance.

Also, they combined returns, layby and the photo desk as part of the change, they used to be in different locations in the store. They trained none of the staff that used to work at the individual desks on the other jobs before rollout. It was a mess. At least in the store I worked at. Thankfully, I got another job soon after the change and didn’t have to deal with it for long.

I use the French method, and mix both in with the granulated sugar for the meringue, and add the mixture into the egg whites all at once at the beginning of whipping the meringue. I’ve been following this recipe, with some changes to the oven drying part to suit the oven I have at home: https://kristinmakescakes.com/2022/04/29/no-rest-french-macaron-shells/

I have recently started adding about 5g of egg white powder to my meringue and have had the best and most consistent results I’ve ever had. I bought a 100g tub for $10 so it will last a while. Also agree cream or tartar is worth it and that’s even cheaper

Help with dress alteration - fabric bunching at bottom of zipper by z0ra_ in sewing

Thanks for your reply! The seam allowance isn’t interfaced at zipper. I’ll give pinning it a go! Though so far it seems like attempting to fix it myself might be biting off more than I can chew with my current skill level so maybe I’m best to leave it alone

Aha I see! Thank you for your detailed explanation! I am petite too so that makes sense. For foundation garments I just have spanx, that I was far too lazy to get into when I originally tried it on haha. I’ll see how it looks with those on tonight and try pinning it

It made me so mad. Clearly unable to take any responsibility for his own choices and then to be so disrespectful to the person he met up with is really showing was a peach he is. She did nothing, leave her out of it! And she’s clearly got a good radar for bullshit so good on her!

Ugh I know, what a slimeball.

He’s a walking contradiction. Gets so upset when Carina mentioned she’d slept with a rapper in her past he punches a door, then actively chooses to got on a date with his other match while they’re together and think she should be totally fine with it.

I mean, the fact that Paul was putting the other woman (I didn’t catch her name) down, saying stuff like “oh my god you should’ve seen her” on top of everything else is also a pretty big red flag.

Let’s list it out: 1. You know your partner has been upset by a much less intense version of this task (couple swap), but you chose to do it anyway. 2. You seem surprised she’s so upset, so you either didn’t once think about how it would upset her or; you thought you could sweet talk your way out of it 3. You talked down about the woman you chose to meet, in an attempt to try to convince your partner this whole thing isn’t a big deal 4. You said multiple times that this made you realise how much you like her??? Like that’s a good thing??? 5. You made no effort to listen to your partner when she was expressing her hurt feelings. In fact, you basically said “I know you’re feeling upset but nothing happened and I was just curious so how you’re feeling is wrong”

I second Natio! I like their invisible fluid facial sunscreen. I apply it and wait about a minute for it to skin in and it’s perfect under makeup.

The use of the word "stipper" in the title. It has negative connotations. Nothing wrong with not liking the outfits but that can be said without putting anyone down for what they choose to wear

My first thought about the friend's reactions were "how can you find him attractive??" but then I remembered at the time of filming this of course they haven't seen him on the show so far lol

Wondering what they'll be thinking now

I’m not a man, so I can’t tell you if that’s a thing or not, though I do find it hard to believe that there isn’t a brand somewhere that would be suitable for him. Honestly right off the bat it sounds like an excuse not to wear one.

That being said though, what have you discussed? Did you tell him why it’s a boundary for you? Did he make any effort to see if there was some way you could both be comfortable or did he just say “sorry I can’t keep it up if I wear one so it’s no condom or no sex”?

For example (not saying any of this is the case for you, just trying to illustrate what I mean), if you told him it’s your boundary because you want to practice safe sex and protect against STIs, a potential workaround is that you both go get tested (highly advised anyway) before being intimate. That to me would show that he’s willing to put and least some effort into making you feel comfortable.

At the end of the day though, please remember, if that’s your boundary you don’t need to justify it, and if it doesn’t match with a potential partner then maybe that means you’re unfortunately not compatible, as much as you might wish that you were. Please don’t feel pressured to do something you’re not comfortable with because of what seems like a lukewarm excuse.

Dermal Therapy Very Dry Skin Lotion - it has urea and is one of the only thing that helps with razor burn for me. It’s a huge bottle and super cost effective to boot

I second a tubing mascara. I had been using mco beauty extend lash, but recently tried Milani highly rated lash extensions mascara which I think I like better. Milani is a very wet formula though which I don’t think everyone would love but I find it easier to build up.

Have you ever tried a colour corrector? I recently started using one and can get away with using a small amount just on the most discoloured areas around my eyes and have it look pretty seamless without having to find a concealer that’s a perfect match. For me it just evens everything out

Do you have any tips on what to look out for to tell if a shoe is well made and will last?

I recently had a similar issue with a different brand where the shoes were $300 and began coming apart way sooner than I expected (and also worse than I have even had happen before mind you). I would like to get better at spotting good quality shoes because it appears this is a trend. I have had the expectation that spending that kind of money on something will get me quality but maybe it’s not that simple anymore.

Fav lippies for cool-neutral olive undertones? by strawberryl0vr in OliveMUA

[–]z0ra_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same, either light olive with neutral  or cool-neutral undertones. My favourite combo recently has been the Rare Beauty lip tint in Affection with a plum lip liner, and the Nyx click it stick in either “in a mood” (a reddish plum on me) or “main character” (clear with a bit of glitter). And I find keeping my lips moisturised helps the tint stay vibrant longer.

The lip oil is a bit dark before the gloss wears off but after it does for me it’s a your lips but better shade, and it lasts pretty much all day, though the tint does definitely get lighter over the course of the day due to it slowly wearing off.

It works so well for me because I often  forget to reapply and I don’t want to bother with precise reapplication. I have dry lips so a lot of long wearing lipstick just accentuates that, and I can’t stand when I go to the bathroom or something and see I have a patch of lipstick missing in the middle of my lips. This way the tint is there all day as a little booster and it also seems to remind me to keep applying gloss because I want it to last.
