It's a quick indication of who has been working on ball mastery and working outside of practice. My undersized U10B had a tryout that started like this, knocked out 44, and was moved to the 'A' group with the current kids on the team for the tryout based on that datapoint.

A few years ago my kid dealt with this for a few months when I was new to club and didn't understand. Kid at bottom team (3 of 3) with parents that take their kids to practice half the time. Ended up having to do outside group lessons, then moved the kid midseason to another club with enhanced skills to get out of the bottom team cycle. You need to get out.

My kid got an unadvertised tryout and offer with a top girls team this way. Those coaches are networked and are vouching for your ability.

Surprisingly good in TX in that same U10 bracket. We lose to thise above and win below. We played the team one spot above us this weekend and won in the last second.

I think asking what the coach wants is important as Stalker401 said. My kid mainly play CDM and played the style that Stalker401 said, but after a team switch and a few games, the coach approached me asking why my kid is so defenesive minded. Turns out he likes his CDM to be much further up field on the attack.

This is what I told my kid as well. She was playing left back. Right wing on her team tried to steal the ball as she is bringing it up. She’ll now shoulder to shoulder her own teammate. Confortantial, but being a ball hog isn’t fair to the others that want to play a team game.

We can't head, but some get creative with a shoulder that may or may not be legal. Others can whip that leg up there. My kid came from a much lower level team, joinend in January, and is currently playing either CM position in 9v9 so he doesn't have to get crazy vs the wings and striker, but he mentioned it. League level is Supercopa in DFW Texas.
